AECOM is seeking a Senior Wet Utilities Engineer in Qatar to lead planning, design, and delivery of drainage and wastewater infrastructure. The role requires extensive experience with hydraulic modeling, regulatory compliance, and project management.

Fluency in Arabic and English is essential for coordinating with authorities and multidisciplinary teams. You will supervise engineers, review technical deliverables, and ensure projects meet budgets and schedules while upholding safety and quality

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 12+ years of professional experience in drainage/wet utilities or related infrastructure projects.
  • MME professional registration/license or equivalent in Qatar.
  • Experience on engineering projects in Qatar.
  • Proficient in CAD software and engineering design tools.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English with strong communication skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of wet utilities systems (drainage, sewerage, wastewater).
  • Perform drainage design, hydraulic calculations, modeling, and network analysis to meet project requirements.
  • Prepare and review drawings, technical specs, design reports, and calculations.
  • Ensure designs comply with Qatar codes, MME requirements, local regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with authorities, utilities, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise site assessments, surveys, and feasibility studies to support design and execution.
  • Manage projects from concept to construction support within budgets and schedules.
  • Identify design risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Review contractor submissions and ensure quality and constructibility.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Prepare progress reports and presentations for clients and authorities.
  • Collaborate with roads, infrastructure, utilities, and environmental teams for integrated designs.
  • Promote QA, safety, sustainability, and ethical engineering practices.

Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Wet Utilities Engineer to lead the planning, design, analysis, and delivery of wet utilities infrastructure projects in Qatar. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in drainage engineering, hydraulic modeling, and infrastructure design, along with a strong understanding of Qatar’s engineering codes, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards.

The successful candidate must hold a valid professional engineering registration/license issued by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) or the relevant competent authority in Qatar, demonstrate strong project management capabilities, and be fluent in Arabic and English. The role requires a proactive professional capable of managing complex engineering projects, supervising technical teams, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions within approved budgets and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of wet utilities infrastructure systems, including stormwater drainage, foul sewerage, wastewater networks, and associated infrastructure.
  • Perform and review drainage system design, hydraulic calculations, hydraulic modeling, and network analysis to ensure system performance, capacity, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering drawings, technical specifications, design reports, calculations, and other project deliverables.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable Qatar building codes, MME requirements, local authority regulations, environmental standards, and relevant international engineering guidelines.
  • Coordinate with government authorities, utility providers, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to obtain necessary approvals and resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct and oversee site assessments, utility investigations, survey reviews, and feasibility studies to support engineering design and project execution.
  • Manage engineering projects from concept development and detailed design through construction support, ensuring delivery within approved budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Identify potential engineering risks, design conflicts, and project constraints, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical proposals related to wet utilities infrastructure.
  • Monitor project progress, resource utilization, design quality, and technical performance, ensuring adherence to contractual requirements and project objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and supervision to junior engineers and design team members, promoting continuous professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare technical reports, design reviews, progress updates, and presentations for clients, management, and relevant authorities.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines, including roads, infrastructure, utilities, structural, and environmental engineering teams, to ensure coordinated and constructible design solutions.
  • Promote quality assurance, transparency, safety, sustainability, and ethical engineering practices throughout all project activities.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while taking ownership of technical decisions, project deliverables, and assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 12+ years of professional experience in drainage engineering, wet utilities, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Valid MME professional engineering registration/license or equivalent registration from the relevant competent authority in Qatar, as applicable to the role.
  • Demonstrated professional experience working on engineering or infrastructure projects in Qatar.
  • Proven expertise in drainage system design, hydraulic modeling, hydraulic calculations, and network analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software and relevant engineering design and modeling tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Qatar’s applicable engineering codes, authority requirements, local regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing engineering projects within approved budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Familiarity with site assessment methodologies, topographical surveys, utility surveys, and related investigation procedures.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is a huge plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional integrity, quality assurance, transparency, accountability, and ethical engineering practices.
