Job summary

Wood is seeking a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer to join our Doha team for long-term projects across concept studies, FEED, EPC and PMC scopes. The role requires delivering technically robust civil/structural designs for onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities.

You will lead detailed calculations, supervise junior engineers, and ensure compliance with Wood and project procedures while meeting safety, quality and schedule targets in Qatar.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering with minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
• Enrolled on the Qatar Register of Engineers, Grade A Category (mandatory).
• If not enrolled, candidates must be Chartered Engineer.
• Proven civil engineering design experience, preferably in oil & gas.

Responsibilities

• Produce, review, and ensure accuracy of detailed calculations, Civil engineering datasheets and drawings to specify the Civil engineering requirements of our projects.
• Having sound experience in the design and analysis of new and existing buildings, structures, foundations, infrastructure and civil works including drainage design, roads and pavement design commonly found in oil & gas facilities.
• Having good experience in the design and checking of different types of foundations such as isolated, combined, raft etc including dynamic foundations, equipment foundations, compressor foundations, pump foundations, underground pits/structures, etc.
• Having good experience both working and checking level for the adequacy checks for the existing structures and foundations including piperacks, buildings, pipe bridges, technological structures, equipment foundations, etc.
• Must have executed recent projects in Intergraph Smart Plant 3D modeling environment
• Supervise less experienced civil engineers and, where required, be line manager for civil engineers within Qatar office.
• As required, perform the role of Lead Engineer including estimating and planning work as well as progress reporting.
• Support recruitment, training, and development of civil personnel
• Follow company standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Lead civil Engineer
• Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in your fields of expertise
• Demonstrate, provide and develop appropriate technical solutions for specific project issues
• Ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets using sound technical knowledge and decision-making skills
• Familiarity with engineering software such as STAAD-Pro, Foundation 3D, Mat 3D, etc. - both as a user and checker.
• Take a proactive approach to personal & professional development
• Ensure Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work
• Demonstrate appreciation of commercial and technical risks, managing these appropriately within own work and highlighting any significant issues to Lead Civil Engineer/ Engineering Manager.
• Seek and support opportunities for department and project improvement and contribute to developing solutions

Education

Degree in Civil Engineering or Similar

Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, Grade A Category
