Job summary

Wood is seeking a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer to join our team in Qatar on a long-term basis. This critical position within the Wood Doha office requires a minimum of 15 years of experience and enrollment on the Register of Engineers in Qatar or Chartered Engineer status. The role involves design and analysis of civil engineering works across various projects, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

This is a key role within the Wood Doha office delivering across Concept study, FEED, EPC and PMC scopes of work. Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
• Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, Grade A Category as a mandatory requirement. If not enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, candidates must be a Chartered Engineer.
• Proven core Civil Engineering skills, including design experience and preferably in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Experience of working in a variety of Onshore projects and phases, including greenfield and brownfield. Pre-FEED through to EPC.
• A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative; excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organizational awareness.
• Ability to impact and influence fellow workers; customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs while achieving project and corporate objectives.
• Analytical and innovative skills to manage new technology.
• Familiarity with Intergraph Smart Plant 3D modeling environment is preferred.

Typical responsibilities

• Produce, review and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations, civil engineering datasheets and drawings to specify the civil engineering requirements of projects.
• Design experience and analysis of new and existing buildings, structures, foundations, infrastructure and civil works including drainage design, roads and pavement design (oil & gas facilities).
• Design of concrete and steel structures including piperacks, buildings, technological structures, equipment supporting structures, pipe bridges, pipe supports, pipe sleepers, etc.
• Design and checking of various foundations (isolated, combined, raft, etc.) including dynamic foundations, equipment foundations, compressor foundations, pump foundations, underground pits and structures.
• Conduct adequacy checks for existing structures and foundations (piperacks, buildings, pipe bridges, etc.).
• Must have executed recent projects in Intergraph Smart Plant 3D modeling environment.
• Supervise less experienced civil engineers and, where required, act as Lead Engineer including estimating, planning and progress reporting.
• Collaborate with project teams to meet man-hour, cost and schedule targets in alignment with project execution plans and Wood procedures.
