Job summary

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s Qatar Biomedical Research Institute seeks a Scientific Director for the Neurological Disorders Research Center to drive translational research and program growth.

You will lead strategic plans, budgeting, infrastructure development, and high-performing teams while advancing diagnostics and AI-enabled tools in neurology. A track record in securing funding and regulatory compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, or related field.
• 15+ years of full-time biomedical or life sciences research experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior research leadership role managing research centers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement 5-year and 10-year strategic master plans for research direction and center growth.
• Lead annual budget preparation and business planning; oversee resource allocation and financial management.
• Direct development of laboratory infrastructure and research facilities.
• Manage and lead a team of scientists and researchers in developing new methodologies and innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with HBKU departments and external partners to secure resources, funding, and research opportunities.
• Ensure full compliance with research protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Build and nurture collaborative relationships with national and international research institutions.
• Recruit, mentor, and motivate high-performing scientists aligned with QBRI's vision.
• Actively participate in both basic and applied research projects to advance center objectives.
• Develop and submit competitive grant applications to secure external funding.
