Job summary

Raffles & Fairmont Doha is seeking a Commis 1 - Pastry to support the pastry team in preparing high-quality pastries, desserts, breads and other baked products in line with hotel standards. You will work closely with Pastry Chefs to ensure quality, cleanliness and efficient kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities include assisting with pastry production, following recipes, maintaining hygiene, and supporting daily operations and events.

Qualifications

• Previous experience or formal training in pastry or bakery is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
• Good attention to detail and presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
• Good teamwork, discipline, and hygiene practices.
• Culinary or pastry qualification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation baking decoration and presentation of pastries and desserts.
• Prepare ingredients and perform basic pastry techniques according to recipes and instructions.
• Maintain high standards of food quality presentation hygiene and sanitation.
• Ensure pastry equipment workstations and storage areas are clean and organized.
• Follow recipes portion controls production schedules and food-safety procedures.
• Assist with mise en place and daily pastry production.
• Properly store ingredients and finished products to maintain freshness and quality.
• Support the Pastry Chef and senior team members during daily operations and special events.
• Minimize food waste through proper handling storage and portioning.
• Follow hotel policies HACCP requirements and workplace safety standards.
