Swan Global is seeking an experienced Offshore Scaffolding Inspector for an EPC project in Qatar. The role covers onshore fabrication yards and offshore sites, ensuring scaffolding is erected, modified and dismantled to project safety standards and design specs.

The ideal candidate has at least 8 years in scaffolding, with 4 in oil & gas, holds CISRCITB and STI certificates, NEBOSH IGC and IOSH-MS, and currently resides in Qatar with transferable QID.

Qualifications

  • Must possess CISRCITB Scaffolding Inspector and STI Scaffolding Inspector certificates.
  • Minimum 8 years in scaffolding, with 4 years in offshore/onshore oil & gas projects.
  • Currently located in Qatar with a transferable visa (QID).
  • Proficiency in interpreting scaffolding design drawings and material specifications.
  • Impeccable knowledge of scaffolding safety and international standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and certify scaffolding structures onshore and offshore.
  • Issue permits and Fit-for-Work certificates after verification.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to scaffold crews.

About the job Offshore Scaffolding Inspector

Position: Scaffolding Inspector (Offshore/Onshore EPC Project)

Location: Qatar (Onshore Fabrication Yard / Offshore Site)
Experience Required: Minimum 8 years in scaffolding, with 4 years in oil & gas projects. Must be currently located in Qatar with a valid QID and ready to transfer.

Overview:

The Scaffolding Inspector is responsible for ensuring all scaffolding works are erected, modified, and dismantled in full compliance with project safety standards, design specifications, and statutory regulations. The role involves rigorous inspection and certification of scaffolding structures at both onshore fabrication yards and offshore sites to ensure a zero-incident work environment.

Reports to: HSE Lead / Construction Superintendent

Key Responsibilities
1. Inspection & Certification
  • Conduct daily, pre-use, and post-modification inspections of all scaffolding structures.
  • Issue permits and "Fit-for-Work" certificates upon verifying compliance.
  • Perform specialized Lifeline Inspection as per project and Vibrant Qatar standards.
  • Inspect for structural integrity, stability, and correct use of materials and fittings.
2. Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all scaffolding activities adhere to CISRCITB, STI, and project-specific safety procedures.
  • Verify compliance with load classifications (Light, Medium, Heavy Duty) and design specifications.
  • Monitor work practices to ensure alignment with NEBOSH IGC and IOSH-MS principles.
3. Supervision & Guidance
  • Supervise scaffolding crews to ensure correct erection and dismantling sequences.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to scaffolders on safe work practices.
  • Stop any unsafe scaffolding operations and implement immediate corrective actions.
4. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of all inspections, certifications, and defect reports.
  • Manage the tagging system (Green/Red/Yellow tags) for scaffold status.
  • Report non-conformances and participate in incident investigations when required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Must possess all required certificates:
  • CISRCITB Scaffolding Inspector
  • STI Scaffolding Inspector
  • Lifeline Inspection (Vibrant Qatar)
  • NEBOSH IGC
  • IOSH-MS
  • Minimum 8 years of experience, with at least 4 years in offshore/onshore oil & gas projects.
  • Proficiency in interpreting scaffolding design drawings and material specifications.
  • Must be currently in Qatar with a transferable visa (QID).
  • Impeccable knowledge of scaffolding safety and international standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
