Job summary

Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure proper functioning of all HVAC equipment and building services across the yard and facilities.

You will support the Head of Maintenance in implementing maintenance strategies, oversee trades staff, and drive improvements in maintenance KPIs while maintaining auditable records.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical or HVAC.
• 5 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or HVAC Maintenance Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement yard maintenance strategy with short- to mid-term plans.
• Operate and maintain HVAC equipment and building systems.
• Manage LV power & lighting systems, access control and ELV systems.
• Maintain plumbing equipment and water systems.
• Prepare spare parts and manage procurement.
• Support maintenance strategy to reduce failures and improve KPIs.
• Prepare RCA reports and preventive actions.
• Create SOW and SOS and tender docs for sub-contractors.
• Supervise sub-contractors and ensure compliance with scope of work.
• Lead and supervise maintenance technicians.
• Prepare work permits and risk assessments for safety.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
• Coordinate with authorities for approvals on changes.

Job description

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for proper functioning of all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment in the yard and all structures, services in the main people buildings. The Maintenance Engineer leverages deep understanding of maintenance strategies in-order to contribute to day-to-day operational maintenance expertise and leadership and supports the Head of Maintenance in monitoring and implementing the strategies for managing the shipyards assets throughout their lifecycle. All works is executed to a high quality & auditable standard that is consistent with the companies integrated management systems and policies. As an officer, a high level of trade skill and experience is demanded and is expected to be demonstrably applied to technical problems and monitoring of trades employees.

Key Accountabilities:

1. 1) Develop a deep understanding of the yard specific maintenance strategy and supports the Head of Maintenance in breaking down the strategy into short to medium time horizon work plans and tactics. Supports the implementation of all aspect of the Maintenance Strategy.
2. 2) Operate and maintain HVAC equipment, including but not limited to dehumidifiers, chillers, AHUs, pumps, fan coil units, Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) units, Air Cooled Condensing Unit (ACCU) units, window air-conditioning units, split air-conditioning units and ventilation systems and all its components.
3. 3) Operate and maintain Low Voltage (LV) Power & Lighting system, Elevator, sliding door, Dock leveler, Building Maintenance Unit (BMU), Electrical Low Voltage (ELV) systems consisting of Access Control System, Barrier gate, Intercom and all its components.
4. 4) Operate and maintain other building systems and Plumbing equipment’s consist of potable water booster pumps, circulation pumps, water heaters and all its components.
5. 5) Prepare and manage all spare parts required for the maintenance of the Equipment and related assets.
6. 6) Support the Head of Maintenance in the preparation of maintenance strategies to reduce failure rates of equipment and improve maintenance KPIs.
7. 7) Prepare RCA reports and provide Head of Maintenance with proposals for preventing repeat failures and ensuring lessons learned.
8. 8) Prepare Scope Of Work (SOW), Scope Of Service (SOS) and Tender documentation for sub-contractors works.
9. 9) Supervise sub-contractors and ensure compliance with scope of work.
10. 10) Lead and supervise maintenance technicians.
11. 11) Prepare fit for purpose Work Permits and Risk Assessment for the identification, control and/or mitigation of workplace risk.
12. 12) Maintain maintenance records.
13. 13) Coordinate with relevant authorities and obtain approvals for any changes to systems and structures.
14. 14) Communicate upwards – training needs, process improvement suggestions and follow up on implementation.

Qualifications:

• Engineering Degree in Mechanical or HVAC.

Experience:

• 5 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, HVAC Maintenance Engineer or equivalent.
