Job summary

Client of Brunel in Qatar seeks an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on rotating and static equipment across oil & gas facilities.

You will coordinate with engineering and operations, execute maintenance schedules, support turnarounds, and uphold HSE standards with a diploma and 3–5 years of hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certificate in mechanical disciplines with relevant certification preferred.
• 3-5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, power, or industrial facilities.
• Hands-on with rotating and static equipment; familiarity with shutdowns, turnaround and commissioning.
• Experience with maintenance management systems and preventive maintenance programs.
• Rigging, lifting, confined space, H2S, PTW, first aid and emergency response training.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, deterioration and potential failures.
• Execute maintenance schedules and follow manufacturer recommendations.
• Carry out breakdown maintenance and emergency repairs to restore availability.
• Maintain records, work orders and equipment history documentation.
• Assist installation, alignment, testing and commissioning of new equipment.
• Verify assembly and startup readiness of mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with engineering and operations to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain and overhaul pumps, gearboxes, turbines, compressors and valves.
• Carry out shaft alignment using conventional and laser techniques.
• Perform bearing inspections, lubrication and vibration/temperature monitoring.
• Support condition monitoring and predictive programs; adhere to HSE and PTW procedures.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive predictive and corrective maintenance activities on mechanical equipment
• Conduct routine inspections to identify equipment deterioration wear corrosion and potential failures
• Execute maintenance schedules in accordance with maintenance management systems and manufacturer recommendations
• Carry out breakdown maintenance and emergency repairs to restore equipment availability
• Maintain maintenance records work orders and equipment history documentation
• Assist in the installation alignment testing and commissioning of new mechanical equipment
• Verify proper assembly and functionality of mechanical systems before startup
• Conduct equipment checks and performance testing during commissioning activities
• Ensure installations comply with engineering specifications drawings and safety standards
• Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment malfunctions
• Dismantle repair replace and reassemble defective parts and components
• Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures
• Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and maintainability
• Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to resolve technical issues
• Maintain and overhaul pumps compressors turbines blowers fans mixers and gearboxes
• Perform shaft alignment using conventional and laser alignment techniques

• Inspect and maintain valves pipelines heat exchangers pressure vessels tanks and mechanical structures
• Perform gasket replacement flange management bolt tensioning and leak repairs
• Assist in turnaround and shutdown maintenance activities
• Conduct pressure testing and equipment integrity inspections
• Adhere to company HSE policies procedures and permit-to-work systems
• Ensure the safe use of tools lifting equipment and maintenance machinery
• Participate in Job Safety Analyses JSA risk assessments and toolbox talks
• Report hazards unsafe conditions incidents and near misses
• Maintain housekeeping standards in mechanical workshops and work areas

Qualifications

Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline. Vocational or trade certification in mechanical maintenance is preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, power generation, manufacturing, desalination, or industrial facilities. Hands-on experience with rotating and static equipment maintenance. Experience in shutdown, turnaround, and commissioning activities is advantageous. Familiarity with maintenance management systems and preventive maintenance programs. Technical Trade Certification in Mechanical Maintenance. Rigging and Lifting Certification.
