Job summary

Snoonu in Doha, Qatar seeks a senior data scientist to lead forecasting and optimization efforts for logistics, including ETA predictions and route planning. You will design, validate, and deploy scalable ML models and optimization solutions, collaborating with ML engineers, backend teams, and product stakeholders.

You will mentor juniors, drive best practices in modelling, experimentation, and code quality, and stay ahead of AI/ML trends to keep Snoonu at the forefront of data-driven logistics.

Qualifications

• MSc in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• PhD in Data Science or related field is advantageous.
• 5+ years in data science, ML, or statistical modelling with focus on forecasting/optimisation.
• Deep hands-on experience with time series methods (ARIMA, Prophet, TFT, etc.) and regression/classification models.
• Experience with optimisation techniques and solvers (OR-Tools, PuLP, MILP).
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
• Experience deploying ML models at scale with monitoring/retraining pipelines.
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation methods.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data platforms (BigQuery, etc.).
• Experience with AWS/GCP/Databricks for ML development.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, development, and implementation of advanced time series forecasting models for logistics (ETA, prep times, demand).
• Design and integrate optimization algorithms to improve route planning and resource allocation.
• Conduct rigorous experiments to test/validate models under real-world scenarios.
• Fine-tune and deploy ML models; maintain retraining pipelines and monitor performance.
• Collaborate across ML, backend, research, and product teams to address operational challenges.
• Run A/B tests to evaluate model impact on logistics KPIs.
• Translate analytics into actionable business insights for senior leadership.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship in modelling, experimentation, and code quality.
• Stay updated on AI/ML and OR techniques to enhance Snoonu's logistics solutions.
