Job summary

Hamad Medical Corporation invites applications for a Laboratory role performing a range of tests on patient samples to support accurate diagnoses. The candidate will record results, ensure quality control, troubleshoot issues, and help maintain instruments and inventory.

The position requires a Biomedical Sciences degree, 2 years of clinical lab experience with Biochemistry, and eligibility for licensure in Qatar.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or a Basic Science related field.
• Minimum 2 years clinical laboratory experience with strong background in Biochemistry.
• Valid Primary license from the country of origin and eligible for license in Qatar.

Responsibilities

• Perform and record results of laboratory testing with high skill and judgement.
• Implement quality control procedures and validate results.
• Troubleshoot technical problems using own knowledge.
• Report unusual results to Supervisor or Section Head.
• Maintain daily routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
• Assist in inventory and expendable supplies management.
• Examine body fluids and tissues for abnormal levels, cells, or bacteria.
• Prepare tissues for microscopic examination by pathologists.
• Determine blood type for transfusions.
• Operate and maintain high-complexity instruments used in the lab.
• Participate in Quality Improvement Programs to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Train new junior lab staff.
• Keep updated with advances and appraise new techniques.
• Participate in R&D, clinical trials, and equipment testing.
• Collect blood, urine, and other clinical specimens.
• Work within the scope defined by the QCHP license.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures on patient samples, including all body fluids and tissue samples, for diagnostic purposes.

Key Accountabilities

• 1. Performs and records results of laboratory testing with a high level of skill and judgement, using knowledge of test accuracy, imprecision, and pre analytical factors to ensure the integrity of laboratory results.
• 2. Undertakes and understands quality control procedures and processes quality control material to determine the acceptability and safe release of patient results.
• 3. Recognizes technical problems and uses skill, knowledge, and experience to troubleshoot using own initiative.
• 4. Recognizes and reports unusual results and difficulties to the Supervisor and /or Section Head.
• 5. Participates in the daily routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• 6. Participates in the day-to-day management of inventory and expendable supplies.
• 7. Examines body fluids and tissues for abnormal chemical levels, cells, or bacteria.
• 8. Prepares tissues for microscopic examination by pathologists.
• 9. Determines blood type for transfusions.
• 10. Operates and maintains high complexity instruments and equipment used in the lab and can properly set up, calibrate, maintain, operate, and shut down such instruments.
• 11. Participates in Quality Improvement Programs essential to ensuring that laboratory testing is accurate, timely and meets patient needs.
• 12. Trains and orients new junior lab staff in the performance and interpretation of tests.
• 13. Keeps aware of current advances and appraises new techniques.
• 14. Participates in Research and Development, clinical trials, and equipment testing.
• 15. Collects blood, urine, and other clinical specimens.
• 16. Practices within the scope defined by the QCHP license.
• 17. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirement

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or a Basic Science related field.

Experience

2 years Clinical Laboratory experience with strong background in Biochemistry

License to Practice

Valid Primary license from the country of origin (if applicable) AND should be eligible for license from the Licensing authority in the State of Qatar to practice Healthcare Profession.
