Job summary

Mekdam Technical Services is seeking a GENERAL TECHNICIAN (MECH) to support refinery process units, including Refinery 1 & 2, RFCC, and associated facilities in MIC. The role involves highly skilled maintenance, repair, and overhaul of rotary equipment, lubrication tasks, and coordination with other disciplines.

The candidate will work under Sr. Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, ensure permits via RIS, and maintain equipment history and PM checklists.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Technology from a recognized institution.
• Minimum English communication skills at level 5 (oral/written).
• Extensive knowledge of Mechanical Rotary equipment and ability to work in a multinational environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repair and overhaul of Rotary equipment (Pumps, Compressors, Steam/Gas turbines, Air fans, Mixers, Turbo Machinery).
• Perform minor/routine maintenance of static equipment and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Obtain permits, organize tools and spares, and complete work with minimal supervision.
• Carry out lubrication of rotary equipment, monitor oil/grease levels, and manage lubrication systems.
• Record activities in PM checklist and maintain equipment history.
• Coordinate with asset integrity and other departments to complete jobs.
• Carry out major overhauls and participate in shutdown works, verify clearances/tolerances with precision tools.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Category of Personnel: GENERAL TECHNICIAN (MECH)

Base Location: OPERATIONS (REFINING)

Reports to: SR. MECHANICAL ENGINEER / MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Primary Purpose of Job:

Carry out highly skilled maintenance, repair and overhaul of Rotary equipment and Minor/routine maintenance of static equipment installed at Refinery process units i.e., Refinery 1 & 2, RFCC, Condensate Refinery, Utilities/Off sites, Tank Farm, Berth#6, BSV3 and Station C1 & C2 at the New Gasoline and Jet Storage Facilities in MIC.

Principle / Key Responsibilities:

1. Carry out highly skilled maintenance, repair, and overhaul of Rotary equipment such as Pumps, Compressors, Steam/Gas turbines, Air fans, Mixers, Turbo Machinery etc. and minor/routine maintenance of static equipment.
2. Receives verbal/written instructions from Sr. Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, obtains permit through RIS, identify, and organizes tools, tackles & spares from store and completes the maintenance work as assigned with minimum supervision.
3. Carries out Preventive/Corrective maintenance of all types of Rotary equipment, which includes assembly/disassembly, bearings & seal renewal, alignment correction, etc. then record all activities in the PM checklist.
4. To perform the lubrication of the rotary equipment including checking / filling lube oil/grease in bearing housings, oil consoles, crank cases etc. Replacement and cleaning of lube oil systems, filters, lube oil sight glasses, hydraulic oil filters, maintain auto greasing and drip-feeding systems etc. Recommend/request asset integrity team to perform oil analysis, if required.
5. Coordinates closely with other maintenance disciplines and other departments to complete the assigned jobs.
6. Performs major equipment overhauls and participates in shutdown works. Carries out correct measurements of clearances/tolerances using a wide range of measuring instruments such as micrometer, Vernier caliper, depth gauge, feeler gauge etc.
7. Maintains equipment history and ensures correct management of work orders.
8. Fully comply with Refinery HSE Procedures.
   Qualifications & Experience:
   
   
   1. Qualified with a Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Technology from a recognized institution.
      
   2. Minimum of level 5 in English communication skills (oral/written).
      
   3. Extensive knowledge of Mechanical Rotary equipment. Ability to work in a multinational environment.
      
   4. Minimum of 8 years' experience in Refinery/Oil & Gas/Petrochemical plants. Must have experience in Pumps (Single & Multistage), Steam/Gas Turbines, centrifugal & Reciprocating Compressors, Turbo machinery etc.
      
   5. Capable of using computer for creating permits in RIS, preferably having knowledge & experience of using SAP & MS Office (Word & Excel).
      
   6. Age Limit: not more than 45 years old.
      
   For the candidates selected for Off sites, Tank Farm, Berth#6, BSV3 and Station C1 & C2 at the New Gasoline and Jet Storage Facilities in MIC, the job involves extensive use of company vehicle.
   Candidate should have a valid Qatari Driving License.
