Job summary

Petrotec is seeking a Senior Rotating Equipment Technician in Qatar to lead maintenance on centrifugal pumps and related rotating equipment. The role spans workshop and field tasks, including dismantling, inspection, measurement, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning.

The Senior Technician will diagnose faults, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure compliance with OEM recommendations, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Technical Certificate, or ITI in Mechanical or related engineering.
• Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on rotating equipment maintenance experience.
• Experience with centrifugal pumps and API 610 is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead workshop and site maintenance on rotating equipment, mainly centrifugal pumps, including dismantling, inspection, and commissioning.
• Plan and prepare equipment, tools, materials, and spares for maintenance tasks.
• Install, remove, overhaul, and replace centrifugal pumps at customer sites.
• Perform shaft alignment using dial indicators and laser alignment tools per OEM specs.
• Diagnose faults, troubleshoot, and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, and job documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with procedures, quality standards, OEM recommendations, and HSE requirements.
• Use and maintain tools and measuring instruments properly; keep a safe work environment.
• Mentor junior technicians and support technical development.

The role supports both workshop and field operations by performing and supervising equipment dismantling, inspection, measurement, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
The Senior Technician is responsible for diagnosing equipment faults, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring all work is executed in accordance with OEM recommendations, quality standards, and HSE requirements. Working closely with engineers, supervisors, and customers, the Senior Technician provides technical guidance to junior personnel, supports troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and contributes to the successful delivery of safe, reliable, and high-quality service solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform and lead workshop and site maintenance activities for rotating equipment, primarily centrifugal pumps, including dismantling, inspection, measurement, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning
• Plan and prepare equipment, tools, materials, and spare parts to ensure the efficient execution of maintenance and repair activities
• Execute the installation, removal, overhaul, and replacement of centrifugal pumps and associated rotating equipment at customer sites
• Perform and verify shaft alignment activities using dial indicators and laser alignment systems in accordance with OEM specifications
• Diagnose equipment faults, conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability
• Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, job cards, and maintenance documentation
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures, quality standards, OEM recommendations, and HSE requirements
• Ensure the proper use, calibration, maintenance, and storage of tools, measuring instruments, and equipment
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in both workshop and field locations
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and support their technical development
• Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and customers to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality maintenance and service solutions

QHSE Responsibilities

• Ensure all team members are aware of, trained in, and compliant with applicable QHSE standards, regulations, and company policies relevant to their work
• Lead by example in promoting a safety-first culture and actively participate in all QHSE meetings, cascading critical safety and environmental information to the team
• Take prompt action to correct any unsafe or hazardous conditions and ensure that unresolved issues are escalated appropriately
• Review and act on QHSE officer/coordinator observations and recommendations in a timely manner
• Ensure all new team members complete their QHSE induction with the HSE Officer before beginning work
• Conduct regular reviews of emergency response readiness, including accessibility and usage of PPE and spill kits
• Monitor team compliance with safety practices, especially among new or less experienced staff, and provide guidance and support where needed
• Encourage active participation in QHSE programs and ensure that staff are given opportunities to contribute to safety improvements
• Refer OHSMS Manual, section 4.4.1 for additional HSE roles, responsibilities, accountability, and authority

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, testing, and troubleshooting of centrifugal pumps (API 610), including OH, BB, and Vertical Pump configurations, as well as other rotating equipment
• Proven experience leading workshop and field service activities, including equipment installation, commissioning, and shutdown maintenance projects
• Extensive experience performing on-site maintenance and field service operations within the Middle East oil & gas, power, water, or industrial sectors
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior technicians while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and OEM standards
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose equipment failures and recommend effective corrective actions
