About the job Interface Manager - Offshore EPC Project

Position Overview

The Interface Manager will lead and oversee all technical, contractual and schedule interfaces across engineering, procurement, construction, fabrication yards and offshore installation/commissioning teams. This role is critical to ensure alignment of multiple disciplines and contractors, avoidance of scope conflicts, schedule slippages or interface claims, and the safe delivery of the offshore EPC scope. The Interface Manager reports to the Project Execution Manager / Interface Director and will typically have a small team of Interface Leads/Coordinators under direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Interface Management Plan (IMP) for the project: define interface boundaries, responsibilities, schedule linkage, escalation paths.
  • Set up and lead the Interface Register / Interface Matrix tracking all inter‑discipline and contractor/contractor, contractor/owner, owner/third‑party interfaces; ensure status is reviewed weekly and actions closed.
  • Conduct interface review workshops (onshore & offshore), clash/overlap resolution meetings, weekly coordination meetings, and elevate unresolved issues to senior management.
  • Interface actively between engineering contractors, procurement/fabrication yards, construction contractors (onshore & offshore), installation/commissioning teams and client/owner representatives.
  • Ensure deliverables (drawings, data‑sheets, work‑packages, installation scopes) preserve continuity across discipline boundaries and downstream readiness for fabrication, installation, hook‑up and commissioning.
  • Monitor and report interface risks, claims potential, schedule impacts, and cost implications; feed into project risk register and change management processes.
  • Ensure close interface with schedule & planning, document control/EDMS, HSE, quality & QA/QC teams to guarantee that interface deliverables meet safety, regulatory, and project quality requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for Interface Leads/Coordinators; ensure interface team is aligned, mobilised and integrated into the project execution structure.
  • Provide offshore support: be prepared to mobilise offshore (as per rotation) for installation phases, walk‑downs, interface verifications, support construction hooks and handover.
  • Ensure lessons‑learned from previous projects are captured and applied; maintain interface documentation, revision control, and hand‑over of interface closure to commissioning/operations.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Civil / Structural / Electrical / Instrumentation) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 12 years experience in Oil & Gas EPC projects; at least 5 years of that in offshore platforms/installation or offshore EPCI scopes.
  • Proven track record managing interface scope of major offshore platforms / topsides / jackets / subsea installation in Gulf region or comparable environment.
  • Deep understanding of engineering deliverables, fabrication/installation sequence, hook‑up and commissioning interface, and offshore construction logistics.
  • Very strong stakeholder management, coordination, leadership of multidisciplinary teams, and interface risk/claims awareness.
  • Proficiency in interface management tools or system (registers, databases), EDMS (e.g., Aconex, SharePoint), MS Office, and familiarity with planning tools (Primavera/MS Project) is an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English; ability to produce clear reporting to senior management and clients.
  • Valid offshore survival training (e.g., BOSIET/HUET) preferred; willingness to work offshore rotation.
  • Familiarity with Middle East / Qatar regulatory context, standards (API/ASME/ISO/NORSOK) and major client frameworks such as QatarEnergy is highly beneficial.
  • Strategic view of project interface landscape and ability to translate to execution planning.
  • Proactive issue escalation and resolution mindset; strong sense of urgency.
  • High integrity, accountability and professionalism in multi‑contractor environment.
