Job summary

Hydrofab Services seeks a Hydraulic Seal Technician and CNC machine operator to identify, measure, and machine seals for hydraulic cylinders, pumps and valves according to drawings and specs. Proficiency with CNC/automatic seal machining, precision measurement tools and quality control is essential.

The ideal candidate will have ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Hydraulics, 5–8 years of relevant experience, and familiarity with PU, PTFE, NBR and FKM/Viton materials.

Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulics or related technical qualification.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in hydraulic seal repair, seal manufacturing, or hydraulic equipment servicing.
• Hands-on experience operating CNC/automatic seal machining or cutting.

Responsibilities

• Identify and select suitable seals based on application pressure, temperature and fluid.
• Measure grooves and mating components before replacement.
• Install hydraulic seals and related elements, ensuring proper orientation and fit.
• Carry out seal replacement on different cylinders and equipment and assist in troubleshooting leaks.
• Maintain records of machining parameters and finished seal dimensions.
• Follow quality procedures and work instructions.

Responsible for the identification selection of seals material measurement machining of hydraulic seals used in hydraulic cylinders pumps motors valves and other hydraulic equipment The technician should be capable of operating CNC seal profile machining equipment to manufacture seals according to required dimensions drawings and specifications must be familiar with Siemens and Fanuc software and HMI strong

Key Responsibilities

Hydraulic Seal Technician and CNC machine operator

• Identify and select suitable seals based on application pressure temperature fluid
• Inspect existing seals for
  • Wear
  • Cuts and damage
  • Extrusion
  • Hardening
  • Swelling
  • Deformation
  • Chemical deterioration
• Measure seal grooves and mating components accurately before selecting or manufacturing replacement seals
• Install hydraulic seals O-rings guide rings wear rings backup rings wipers and other sealing elements
• Ensure correct seal orientation and installation without damaging the sealing surfaces
• Check piston rod gland and barrel dimensions before seal installation
• Verify seal clearances and groove dimensions against drawings or manufacturer specifications
• Carry out seal replacement on different types of hydraulic cylinders and equipment
• Assist in troubleshooting hydraulic leakage and identify the root cause of seal failure
• Recommend appropriate seal materials and profiles based on operating conditions
• Maintain proper identification and traceability of seals and materials used

Seal Machine Operator

• Operate CNC/automatic seal cutting and seal machining machines safely and efficiently.
• Manufacture seals according to approved drawings, dimensions, and customer requirements.
• Select the appropriate seal material, profile, tooling, and machining parameters.
• Program or enter required dimensions and machining parameters into the seal machine.
• Set up tooling and fixtures correctly before machining.
• Verify raw material dimensions and material grade before machining.
• Produce seals from different materials such as PU, PTFE, NBR, FKM/Viton, and other engineering sealing materials, as applicable.
• Carry out first-piece inspection before proceeding with batch production.
• Measure finished seals using appropriate precision measuring instruments.
• Make necessary machine parameter adjustments to achieve the required dimensions and surface finish.
• Maintain proper records of machining parameters and finished seal dimensions.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of seal materials to prevent contamination or damage.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of the seal machining equipment.
• Report machine faults, tooling problems, and abnormal machining conditions to the supervisor.

Precision Measurement Skills

The technician must be competent in using:

• Vernier calipers
• Outside micrometers
• Inside micrometers
• Bore gauges
• Depth gauges
• Height gauges
• Profile gauges
• Measuring microscope or optical measurement equipment, where applicable

The technician must understand tolerances, fits, groove dimensions, and seal

Quality Responsibilities

• Ensure all manufactured seals meet the required drawing dimensions and tolerances.
• Inspect every finished seal for dimensional accuracy and profile quality.
• Verify material identification before machining.
• Maintain inspection and production records.
• Ensure no damaged, incorrectly machined, or dimensionally incorrect seals are released for installation.
• Follow approved work instructions and quality procedures.

HSE Responsibilities

• Follow all company HSE procedures and workshop safety requirements.
• Use appropriate PPE while operating machinery and handling hydraulic components.
• Ensure machine guards and safety devices are in place before operation.
• Handle cutting tools, machining equipment, and hydraulic components safely.
• Maintain good housekeeping around the seal machining and assembly area.
