Job summary

BLJ Worldwide seeks an English Writer/Editor for a Qatar-based role within its Sports & Entertainment practice. You will craft and edit speeches, website content, press materials and other collateral, ensuring brand voice and client strategy are reflected across local and international audiences.

You should have 5+ years editing experience, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and strong writing skills. The role may involve events and fast-paced client work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Native English speaker or bilingual writer with 5+ years of content editing experience in-house or agency.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, political science, English or related disciplines.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills; competency testing may include Arabic–to–English translation.
• Background in sports writing preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong decision-making and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit and develop written collateral including speeches, website content and press materials.

BLJ Worldwide is searching for an English Writer/Editor with relevant local experience to join our Sports & Entertainment practice, working in a full-time, client-embedded role with a prestigious Qatari entity.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Be responsible for creating, editing, and developing written collateral, including key messages, speeches, website content, press materials and other written content.
• Fully develop creative content using culturally relevant language that captures the client’s brand voice and aligns with their overall strategy.
• Implement client brand guidelines and amend content to reflect the client’s preferred style and feedback, while tailoring content for local, regional, and international target audiences as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to create editorial calendars that align with client needs, contributing to the conceptual direction at both the day-to-day and strategic levels.
• Generate and execute creative ideas across media platforms, bringing them to life in compelling ways.
• Be skilled at comprehending complex information/briefs and transforming it into engaging narratives.
• Work on multiple projects, delivering work to tight deadlines and to a high standard.
• Support with out-of-hours requests or on-ground at events as required.
• Fulfil additional duties and assume project management responsibilities as assigned.
• Additionally, you should be a self-starter, with an understanding of international and current affairs and have strong communication skills to work directly with clients and staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

• You are a native English speaker or a bilingual writer with over five years of experience as a written content editor in a similar in-house or agency role.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism, international relations, political science, English, or related disciplines.
• Exceptional writing skills with a flair for creative, engaging content. We will test your competency in writing and editing (in addition to translation from Arabic to English – if bilingual).
• Have background experience in sports writing (preferably).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability, and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective cross-team communication.
• Proven ability to perform well under high-pressure situations.
