Job summary

GHD is seeking a senior Technical Director – Energy for the Middle East to lead growth, deliver high‑level advisory and engineering assignments, and strengthen client relationships across utilities, regulators and investors. You will direct major energy projects, mentor teams, and leverage global expertise to shape regional strategy.

Based in the Middle East, you will steward governance, manage bids, and drive performance while collaborating with regional leadership and international specialists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Energy or Power Engineering; postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
• Typically 15+ years of experience in consulting, advisory, or client-side energy roles.
• Established Middle East network with regional utilities, regulators and investors.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent accreditation preferred.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is advantageous; occasional regional/international travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to ME Energy growth strategy and market positioning.
• Win and deliver work through market relationships and leadership.
• Act as technical authority and Director on major energy assignments.
• Lead bids, manage pipeline, and backlogs for the region.
• Deliver strong project financial performance across owned work.
• Grow senior client relationships with utilities, regulators, developers and investors.
• Lead governance and risk reviews on scope, pricing and delivery.
• Direct multidisciplinary technical workstreams across networks, renewables, storage and advisory.
• Provide independent technical review aligned with international standards.
• Mentor and develop technical talent; support accreditation and progression.
• Represent GHD as a thought leader in regional and global forums.
