Job summary

MGallery is seeking a Duty Engineer to oversee daily engineering operations, ensuring facilities, equipment and systems operate safely and efficiently for guests and Heartists. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with other departments and contractors to minimize disruptions.

The ideal candidate holds a diploma or technical engineering qualification with hotel or hospitality experience and strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC,

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical qualification in Engineering or related field.
• Experience in a similar hotel engineering role preferred.
• Good knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily engineering operations and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of hotel facilities, equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to minimize disruption to hotel operations.
• Monitor electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and other building systems.
• Conduct regular inspections and ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate and follow up on maintenance requests and work orders.
• Respond to emergencies and breakdowns and take appropriate corrective action.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety standards and hotel procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections and repairs.
• Coordinate with other hotel departments and external contractors when required.
• Support and guide Engineering team members during daily operations.
• Ensure engineering workshops, tools and work areas are clean, organized and safe.
• Contribute to maintaining a comfortable, safe and well-maintained environment for guests and Heartists.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or technical qualification in Engineering or a related field.
• Previous experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Good knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and team coordination skills.
• Proactive, reliable, and safety-conscious approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
