Job summary

Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha is seeking a CSSD Supervisor to oversee all sterilisation processes and train staff. You will ensure quality controls, maintain records, and implement departmental policies aligned with hospital goals.

The role requires a nursing degree, a professional sterilization qualification is ideal, and at least 5–7 years of experience, including 2–3 in a similar role. Proficiency in English is mandatory; Arabic is a plus.

Qualifications

JOB TITLE: CSSD Supervisor

Role Purpose:

Oversee all sterilisation processes completed within the Hospital, and to train and educate staff on sterilisation processes when necessary. Serve as a resource to Central Processing customers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

• Oversee the work of the sterilisation staff, and quality controls work (cleaning of medical equipment, decontamination, cleaning of operating theatres, wards, and dental units). Develop work schedules for the CSSD department.
• Maintain close links with the infection control department. Apply best practice sterilisation techniques.
• Provide financial records of all expenses. Evaluate and order all products that come into CSSD.
• Oversee staff recordings of all department expenses daily and submits these to the finance department monthly.
• Implement policies and procedures for the CSSD department that are aligned with the overall goals of the hospital.
• Promote a safe and harmonious work environment by employing effective communication, counselling and negotiation skills. Maintain a high level of interpersonal and communication skills. Provide a working environment that encourages personal and professional growth and skill enhancement.
• Implement performance appraisal process to ensure competent practice and to guide the further personal growth and skill enhancement for self and staff. Ensure that all staff are properly trained and trains staff to ensure that all are using the highest standard of sterilisation techniques.
• Conduct and coordinate workshops and lectures on CSSD related topics for internal and external professionals.
• Train and educate staff and can proctor and administer sterilisation exams. Undertake self-development opportunities to promote and maintain knowledge and competence.
• Maintain annual mandatory and core competencies relevant to the position.
• Implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures, to ensure work is completed out in a controlled and consistent manner while delivering a world class service. Ensure cost-efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense.
• Share ideas and viewpoints to further streamline processes, thus driving efficiency and improvements across the organization.
• Ensure compliance to all relevant QHSSE management procedures and controls across the department to provide a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.
• Motivate team members and contribute to the identification of opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programmes and projects that reflect international best practice and changes in the competitive environment
• Provide guidance and direct input to the development plans and performance management of direct reports to meet the organizational objectives.
• Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility.
• Patient Safety-Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service, and contracted providers.

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:

• Minimum experience of 5-7 years in which 2-3 years should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry.
• Previous experience as a CSSD Supervisor will be of advantage

Education and Certification requirements:

• Graduate of a recognized School of Nursing. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Professional qualification in Sterilization is ideal.
• Fulfil all licensing requirements if required.

Job specific technical Skills:

• Meticulous and pays attention to detail.
• Professionally groomed to project a positive image.
• High proficiency in English language is mandatory. Arabic will be a definitive advantage.
