Job summary

Mace is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our aviation programme team and lead the safe and successful delivery of major construction packages within a complex, live operational environment. The role requires strong leadership, governance with contractors and consultants, and practical construction expertise across large-scale building and infrastructure projects.

You will drive delivery excellence while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related discipline.
• Professional membership with CIOB, ICE, RICS, PMI or equivalent is desirable.
• Significant experience in construction management of major building, infrastructure, transportation, or aviation projects.
• Proven track record managing contractors and delivering projects through the construction phase.
• Strong understanding of HSE management, quality assurance, and commissioning processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage construction delivery activities across multiple project packages.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, quality standards, and programme commitments.
• Oversee site execution, construction sequencing, logistics planning, and coordination activities.
• Ensure the safe delivery of works in accordance with project HSE requirements and industry best practices.
• Coordinate and manage site interfaces between contractors, consultants, client stakeholders, and operational teams.
• Review and monitor construction schedules, progress reports, and recovery plans.
• Identify construction risks and implement mitigation measures to minimise impacts on programme and budget.
• Lead site inspections, quality reviews, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Support change management, variation reviews, and commercial assessments.
• Chair site meetings and coordinate resolution of technical and delivery-related issues.
• Ensure construction activities comply with statutory regulations, permits, and operational constraints.
• Prepare and present project progress reports to senior stakeholders and programme leadership.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence across the project team.
