Job summary

Qatar Foundation International seeks a Maintenance Engineer to oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of buildings, equipment and facilities in Qatar. You will review requests, allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure safety and ISO/OSH compliance while generating essential reports.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, coordinating with facility engineers and contractors on new projects, and supporting commissioning of systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma; engineering diploma strongly preferred.
• 2–5 years of relevant full-time work experience.
• Certified vocational training.
• Expertise in at least one technical discipline.
• Field experience in construction, facilities management or oil & gas industry.
• Excellent understanding of safety precautions and emergency procedures.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, engineering drawings and document processes.
• Exposure to quality, environment, and occupational safety management systems.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Process the incoming work request through to completion for maintenance of equipment, systems, buildings and facilities; document materials, man hours and skill levels.
• Allocate work to subordinates and contractors, provide instructions, monitor progress and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Provide regular feedback to Maintenance Engineer and generate reports such as repairs, daily/monthly activity, and incident reports.
• Troubleshoot technical failures and maintain records and files of work performed.
• Collaborate with Facility Engineers and contractors on planning and commissioning of new projects.
• Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for operational efficiency.
• Carry out scheduled routine and preventive maintenance and participate in installation activities; conduct function tests and ensure safe use of tools.
• Assist with commissioning of new systems, prepare snag lists, and ensure smooth handover of new systems/facilities.
• Inspect contractors' work on-site, resolve issues and enforce safe practices; maintain facility records.
• Prepare annual inventory of spare parts, consumables, tools and test equipment; manage material requisitions and inspections.
• Process permits to work, authorize safety overrides and enforce housekeeping practices.
• Discuss malfunctions with engineers and propose solutions to recurring problems.
• Adhere to fire and safety rules and act as part of emergency control room when required.
• Monitor operational parameters (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and communicate abnormalities to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Develop plant changes for modifications or improvements and update on-site drawings and as-built records.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 systems.

Job description

Key Result Areas:

• Process the incoming work request through to completion such as receiving, reviewing, approval, estimating and closing for functioning & maintenance of equipment/system/buildings / facilities and complete the information for required materials, man hours, and skill levels.
• Allocate work to subordinates & contractors, provide needed instructions, monitor work progress, and ensure that work conforms to established work standards and statutory requirements.
• Provide regular feedback to Maintenance Engineer, and generate required reports and paperwork, such as repairs reports, daily & monthly activity reports, equipment failure reports, incidents and accidents reports.
• Troubleshoot and analyse technical failures and recommend measures to mitigate recurring problems & Maintain records and files of work performed, in progress, and completed.
• Collaborate with Facility Engineers and contractors on the planning and commissioning of new projects.
• Assist the Maintenance Engineer in developing and implementing Operational / Functional and preventive maintenance programs & procedures to ensure operational efficiency.
• Carry out scheduled routine and preventive maintenance, participate in installation activities, provide technical advice to subordinates, ensure the proper use of tools and test equipment, and help carry out function tests on repairs prior to reinstating systems.
• Help with commissioning of new systems, carry out functionality tests, prepare the snag lists, attend to snag list for the successful commissioning and smooth handover of new systems/ facilities.
• Inspect contractors' work, carry out related on-site work, resolve any problems, and ensure the use of safe practices & Conduct facility inspection, follow-up and maintain records.
• Help prepare an annual inventory of spare parts, consumables, special tools, and test equipment. Review consumption discuss interchangeability with supervisor, initiate purchase requisitions for new materials, and assist with materials receipt & inspection.
• Process of permits to work through to completion, authorize safety overrides, and enforce good housekeeping practices.
• Discuss all operational malfunction and problems with Facility Engineer and Maintenance Engineer. Suggests possible solutions for recurring problems.
• Take high level of responsibilities for own safety and the safety of work associates within the building, ensuring fire and safety procedures are adhered to all items and that appropriate safety equipment are worn. Must be aware of all alarms, emergency, and evacuation procedures.
• Act as part of the emergency control room team in case of evacuations/emergency situations and takes appropriate action in accordance with fire and safety rules and regulations.
• Review & supervise various operational parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow and level to ensure they are within the operating limits, takes corrective action and informs facilities engineers for the of abnormalities to ensure continuity in operations and meet the requirements of the building.
• Help develop Plant Changes for modifications or improvements to existing systems and prepare drawings and technical specifications. Update on-site information & drawings and record as-built drawings.
• Ensure that activities conform to ISO 9001, Quality Management system, ISO 14001, Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
• Keep up to date in the respective field of engineering
• Other reasonable tasks as assigned by Supervisors.
