Job summary

Progressive is seeking a Control Engineer to support the design, implementation and commissioning of automation, control and SCADA systems for substations and industrial facilities in Lisbon. You will contribute across all project phases from engineering design to testing, commissioning and site support.

We value hands-on PLC/RTU/SCADA experience, knowledge of IEC standards, and strong collaboration with electrical and multidisciplinary teams. English fluency is required, Portuguese is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering.
• At least 3 years in control/SCADA engineering.
• Experience with substations or energy projects.
• Hands-on with PLC/RTU/SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA.
• Experience with major platforms (Siemens/ABB/Schneider/GE/Rockwell/Ignition).
• Fluent English; Portuguese a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop basic and detailed engineering for control, automation and SCADA systems.
• Prepare control philosophies, functional descriptions, I/O lists and cause-effect matrices.
• Design and review control architectures, networks and interfaces.
• Configure and integrate PLCs, RTUs, HMIs and SCADA platforms.
• Develop specifications and datasheets for control equipment.
• Coordinate interfaces with electrical and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and testing.
• Troubleshoot automation and control system issues.
• Provide site support during energization and start-up.
• Ensure IEC standards and client requirements compliance.
