DataSmart is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join in Lisbon with a hybrid work model. You will own the SQL Server production databases, including Azure integration, and manage the full DBA lifecycle from incidents to releases.

The role requires 5–10 years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience, strong Azure expertise, and certification awareness. English fluency (C1) is mandatory, with a preference for those familiar with regulated environments.

Qualificações

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5–10 years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience in production environments.
• Strong experience in incident management, production support and performance tuning.
• Strong Azure experience is mandatory.
• Experience with SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups — mandatory.
• Experience with Failover Cluster Instances (FCI).
• Strong T-SQL scripting — mandatory.
• PowerShell automation — mandatory.
• Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines.
• English C1 — mandatory.

Responsabilidades

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server production databases integrated with Azure.
• Take full operational ownership of the DBA lifecycle, including performance, incidents, releases and continuous improvement.
• Manage SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) and storage accounts.
• Independently troubleshoot and resolve SQL Server production incidents, including root cause analysis (RCA).
• Execute and validate production releases using Azure DevOps and UrbanCode Deploy (UCD).
• Perform query tuning, T-SQL optimization and execution plan analysis.
• Administer and optimize Azure SQL, Azure Pipelines, Azure Monitor and Azure Event Hub.
• Manage database security, permissions and auditing, with high-quality documentation.
• Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure partners and release management.
• Create, maintain and improve runbooks and operational procedures.

What You’ll Do:

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server production databases integrated with Azure.
• Take full operational ownership of the DBA lifecycle, including performance, incidents, releases and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5–10 years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience in production environments.
• Strong experience in incident management, production support and performance tuning.
• Strong Azure experience is mandatory.
• Experience working in regulated environments, particularly financial services, is a strong plus.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration, installation and configuration.
• SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups — mandatory.
• Experience with Failover Cluster Instances (FCI).
• Strong T-SQL scripting — mandatory.
• PowerShell automation — mandatory.
• Query optimization and execution plan analysis.
• Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines.
• Experience with PostgreSQL is valued.
• Tools: MS SQL Server, UrbanCode Deploy, Jira, DBeaver.
• Azure Database Administrator certification is a plus; Microsoft SQL Server certifications are valued.
• English C1 — mandatory, both spoken and written.
• French and/or Dutch is a plus.
• Strong ownership, accountability and autonomy.
• Structured and analytical troubleshooting mindset.
• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Generalist/specialist profile, comfortable working across multiple database technologies.
• Must have a valid work permit or EU/Schengen nationality allowing legal employment in Portugal.
• Lisbon/Portugal-based, with a hybrid working model.
