The Work You'll Do:

At Sovos, we're transforming how businesses navigate the evolving regulatory landscape while simultaneously modernizing our technical infrastructure. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer who will play a critical, hands‑on role in helping engineering teams across the organization adopt our Core Platform and AI Platform capabilities — and in raising the quality bar for how that adoption happens over time.

Positioned at the intersection of Engineering, Architecture, and AI technology, this role is highly visible and strategic. You'll work directly with teams to accelerate delivery, write the playbooks that make adoption easier, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure code ships with quality and confidence.

The Senior Software Engineer will act as an embedded accelerator for teams across Sovos, helping them move faster and build better by leveraging our Core Platform and AI Platform investments.

More specifically you will:

Driving Platform Adoption Across Engineering Teams

Your core responsibility is helping engineering teams successfully adopt Core Platform and AI Platform components and methodologies. This means going beyond documentation — you'll embed alongside teams, understand their codebases, identify adoption blockers, and deliver practical solutions that make our platform capabilities feel native to their workflows.

• Directly contribute to team codebases using AI-assisted development techniques and Core Platform patterns.
• Navigate diverse technical domains quickly to provide timely, high-impact adoption support.
• Serve as a trusted guide for teams learning to use AI coding assistants, prompt engineering best practices, and platform APIs.
• Identify friction points in the adoption journey and proactively resolve or elevate them.
• Help engineering teams understand and effectively apply Core Platform and AI Platform capabilities.

Writing Skills to Accelerate and Improve Adoption

You'll build the institutional knowledge that makes adoption increasingly self-sustaining. This means authoring Skills — structured, reusable guidance and automation that help teams do the right thing by default — and continuously improving them based on real-world feedback.

• Author and maintain Skills that encode best practices for Core Platform and AI Platform adoption.
• Capture patterns that emerge from hands‑on team engagements and translate them into reusable guidance.
• Establish and evolve guidelines for AI coding assistant usage, including prompt engineering, code quality standards, and workflow integration strategies.
• Continuously improve Skills based on what's working, what teams struggle with, and changes to the platform.
• Help create repeatable approaches that enable engineering teams to adopt new technologies more efficiently.

Collaborating with Stakeholders to Build Test Plans and Deploy Code

You'll work closely with product and engineering stakeholders to make sure that adoption efforts result in production‑quality outcomes — not just proofs of concept. You'll bring rigor to the testing and deployment phase so teams can ship with confidence.

• Partner with engineering teams and product stakeholders to co-author test plans for platform-integrated features.
• Support end-to-end deployment cycles, from development through staging to production.
• Identify quality and security considerations for AI-generated and platform-integrated code.
• Demonstrate how to incrementally improve architecture while delivering measurable business value.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve technical blockers throughout the development lifecycle.
• Help teams deliver reliable, maintainable solutions while adopting new platform capabilities.

What We Need From You:

• 7+ years of experience in software development, with demonstrated ability to work across multiple codebases and technical domains.
• Experience — or strong enthusiasm — for AI coding assistants in professional contexts, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools.
• Strong technical depth in JavaScript and React.
• Familiarity with Java and/or .NET service-oriented systems is a plus.
• A track record of enabling other engineers through mentorship, documentation, shared tooling, or hands‑on pairing.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem‑solving instincts, with the ability to balance immediate team needs with longer‑term platform and architectural improvements.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to author Skills, documentation, and guidance that other engineers can rely on.
• Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar codebases, technologies, and technical domains.
• A collaborative approach and a strong interest in helping engineering teams adopt new technologies and ways of working.
