Job summary

Proxify is seeking a Senior Python AI Engineer to design and build scalable backend systems and APIs for AI-powered applications in Lisbon. You will work with cross-functional teams to shape data-driven products across platforms and ensure robust, secure, and efficient deployment.

The role requires deep Python expertise, hands-on ML tooling, experience with FastAPI/Flask/Django, and knowledge of vector databases, LLMs, and cloud services. CET time zone considerations apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python development with modern frameworks.
• Experience with FastAPI/Flask/Django in backend services.
• Hands-on with PyTorch or TensorFlow for ML models.
• Familiarity with LLMs such as GPT, Gemini, LLaMA.
• Prototyping tools: Streamlit, Gradio.
• RESTful APIs and microservices design.
• Git and CI/CD workflows experience.
• Docker and Kubernetes containerization experience.
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) knowledge is a plus.
• Security practices for handling sensitive data.
• Strong problem solving and cross-team communication.
• Intermediate-advanced English; CET time zone constraints.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend systems and APIs for AI-powered apps.
• Build and optimize LLM-based workflows including chatbots and copilots.
• Implement RAG architectures using vector databases and document pipelines.
• Integrate and orchestrate cloud-hosted foundation models (Bedrock, OpenAI, etc).
• Collaborate with data scientists, PMs, and frontend developers end-to-end.
• Ensure performance, scalability and cost optimization in production.
• Monitor, evaluate and improve deployed AI systems.
