Zühlke is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Node.js) to join its Digital Solutions team in Porto, working on diverse projects for international clients. You will build scalable, secure, modern architectures using Node.js, TypeScript, and cloud platforms, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.

You’ll contribute to design, testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices, mentor junior engineers, and explore AI-driven improvements to software development processes.

Qualificações

• Node.js and ecosystem, preferably NestJS
• TypeScript/JavaScript proficiency and modern frontend tech (React/Next.js)
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Strong relational database knowledge (data modeling, SQL, performance)
• Experience building and deploying containerized apps with Docker
• Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs
• Experience with automated testing (Vitest, Jest, Cypress) and modern CI/CD practices
• Ability to make sound technical decisions and apply best practices
• Experience in Agile development environments (Scrum) with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/SE and professional English; willingness to travel when needed

What’s Important to Us

• Strong professional experience with Node.js and its ecosystem, preferably NestJS or similar backend frameworks.

• Excellent knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frontend technologies, ideally React and Next.js.

• Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Strong understanding of relational databases, including data modeling, SQL, and performance optimization.

• Experience building and deploying containerized applications using Docker.

• Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful API design.

• Strong experience with automated testing (e.g. Vitest, Jest, Cypress) and modern CI/CD practices.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, and engineering best practices, with the ability to make sound technical decisions.

• Proven ability to simplify complex architectures, reduce technical debt, and modernize legacy systems through pragmatic, incremental improvements while continuing to deliver business value.

• Experience working in Agile development environments (Scrum or similar) with cross‑functional teams.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Professional proficiency in English, with willingness to undertake occasional travel when needed.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure.

• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.

• Experience building integrations with third‑party platforms and APIs, particularly within e‑commerce ecosystems.
