Amgen in Lisbon, Portugal, seeks a Senior Manager in Responsible AI Governance to shape and mature the enterprise AI governance program. You will collaborate across Legal, Regulatory Policy, Quality, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Technology, Research, and business functions to translate evolving AI guidelines into scalable governance standards and processes.

  • Degree educated and 7 years of experience in Responsible AI, AI governance, AI risk, technology policy, regulatory policy, quality systems, compliance, audit/inspection readiness, AI/ML, or a related discipline.

Responsabilidades

  • Shape the evolution of Amgen’s Responsible AI governance framework and operating model by defining and advancing governance controls, processes, and evidence practices for AI models and systems.
  • Assess emerging AI regulations, regulatory guidance and standards, and assurance themes; determine their implications for Amgen and translate them into clear recommendations for governance strategy, requirements, controls, and operating processes.
  • Support audits, inspections, internal reviews, and regulatory information requests led by accountable functions by articulating Amgen’s enterprise AI governance approach and coordinating relevant evidence.
  • Develop clear governance narratives, executive materials, and decision-support content that frame key Responsible AI issues, options, risks, and recommendations for senior leaders and governance forums.
  • Advance the maturity of Amgen’s enterprise Responsible AI governance operating model, including roles and accountabilities, escalation pathways, governance forums, reporting, and evidence expectations.
  • Act as a key execution lead for the Responsible AI governance program, leading high-priority initiatives and coordinating cross-functional delivery.

Realizing that potential responsibly requires governance that is not only principled, but practical, scalable, and embedded in how AI is developed and used across the enterprise.

The Senior Manager, Responsible AI Governance sits within Amgen’s Responsible AI team in the Artificial Intelligence & Data Science organization. This senior individual-contributor role helps shape and mature Amgen’s enterprise Responsible AI governance framework and operating model.

The role connects external expectations to practical internal implementation. Working across Legal, Regulatory Policy, Quality, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Technology, Research, and business functions, you will translate emerging AI regulations, guidance, standards, and other requirements into scalable governance standards and processes.

You will also serve as a senior Responsible AI governance subject-matter expert and trusted partner in in audits, inspections, internal reviews, and other assurance-related engagements engagements.

The responsibilities of the role will include:

Degree educated and 7 years of experience in Responsible AI, AI governance, AI risk, technology policy, regulatory policy, quality systems, compliance, audit/inspection readiness, AI/ML, or a related discipline.

Demonstrated expertise translating external regulatory, policy, audit, inspection, or standards-based expectations into practical governance requirements, controls, procedures, or operating models.

Strong understanding of Responsible AI governance, AI risk management, and emerging AI regulatory and policy frameworks, including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and Trustworthy AI characteristics, EU AI Act concepts, and relevant FDA and international regulatory guidance.

Ability to build clear, evidence-based governance narratives and influence senior stakeholders across governance, control, technology, and business functions in a complex matrixed environment.

Technical fluency sufficient to engage credibly with AI/ML, data science, engineering, and product teams on model and system lifecycle, monitoring, documentation, controls, and deployment considerations.

Fluency in English.

Preferred requirements

Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, financial services, or another highly regulated industry, including familiarity with FDA, EMA, GxP, quality-system, audit, or inspection environments.

Experience supporting regulatory inspections, internal or external audits, quality-system activities, or audit-response programs.

Experience in technology policy, AI ethics, digital ethics, or responsible innovation, including translating ethical principles into practical governance requirements or operating practices.

Experience developing model risk management, third-party AI, AI lifecycle, or enterprise technology governance standards.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and seniority levels.

Team-oriented with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
