Job summary

Imaginary Cloud is seeking an experienced ML Engineer to design and deliver production‑level ML solutions in a cloud‑native environment. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams, drive experiments, and optimize ML pipelines for scalability and reliability.

The role requires 5+ years in ML, strong Python, and hands-on experience with LightGBM/XGBoost, PyTorch, MLflow, and time-series tooling. Fluency in English and eligibility to work in Portugal are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of working experience in ML engineering or closely related role.
• Academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related quantitative field.
• Hands-on experience delivering production-level, cloud-native ML solutions.
• Excellent proficiency in Python and related practices (git, code review, linters, unit tests and CI/CD).
• Solid experience with a modern ML stack (LightGBM, XGBoost, scikit-learn, PyTorch, MLflow, time-series tooling).
• Strong feature engineering and model training/evaluation skills.
• Familiar with Agentic AI tools and debugging workflows.
• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude and collaboration with teams.
• Fluency in English; willingness to live and work in Portugal.

Here’s an overview of the technical skills you’ll likely have to embark on our team:

5+ years of working experience in Machine Learning Engineering or closely related role

• Academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related quantitive field.

• Hands‑on experience delivering production‑level, cloud‑native machine learning solutions, and a feel for the MLOps practices that make that sustainable.

• Excellent proficiency in Python and related practices (git, code review, linters, unit tests and CI/CD pipelines)

• Solid experience across a modern ML stack: gradient boosting (LightGBM, XGBoost), scikit‑learn, PyTorch, MLflow, and current time series tooling

• Strong understanding of feature engineering, ML algorithms, model training and evaluation

• Outstanding proficiency in using Agentic AI tools like Cursor IDE and GitHub Copilot to accelerate code development, refactoring, and complex debugging

• Analytical mind with a strong problem‑solving aptitude

• Experience collaborating with engineering and product development teams

• Fluency in English, both spoken and written

• We seek team members who live in Portugal or are willing and legally qualified to live and work there

The salary range for this position is 39 360,00€ - 60 600,00€ gross per year.
