ISS A/S in Porto, Portugal, seeks a Senior ML/AI Engineer to stabilise and evolve our AI platform while delivering production-grade Generative AI solutions. This role blends AI application development with backend and platform engineering in a hands-on, production-focused environment.

During the first 6–12 months, you’ll mature the platform with guardrails, access controls, and observability, then help design and deploy LLM, RAG and agent-based workflows for diverse business use cases.

Qualificações

• Strong Python skills and experience building production-grade APIs, backend services and integrations.
• Hands-on experience developing or operating production GenAI solutions using cloud-hosted or open-source language models.
• Experience with LLM, RAG or agent-based systems and an understanding of their production challenges.
• Experience implementing platform controls such as authentication, rate limiting, quotas, token management, cost monitoring or policy enforcement.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation, Kubernetes and production observability.
• Experience with CI/CD, deployment automation and reliable software release practices.
• Knowledge of relational databases and experience with vector search or vector databases.
• Strong written and spoken English.

Responsabilidades

• Diagnose production issues and contribute to technical standards for secure, reliable and maintainable AI systems.

Job Role as Senior Machine Learning:

We are looking for a Senior ML/AI Engineer to help stabilise and evolve our AI platform while developing and maintaining production-grade Generative AI solutions.

During the first 6-12 months, the role will focus primarily on helping to mature the existing platform, including guardrails, model access controls, API gateways, token usage, cost monitoring, observability and production readiness. As the platform becomes more established, the role will increasingly contribute to the design, delivery and ongoing improvement of LLM, RAG and agent-based solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining AI application development, backend and platform engineering, and production operations.

What you’ll do:

• Exposure to AI platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI.
• Experience with LLM gateways, model routing, fallback strategies or multi-provider architectures.
• Understanding of AI evaluation, prompt-injection testing, responsible AI, security governance or FinOps controls.
