Job summary

Elastic in Portugal is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join the Elasticsearch team and drive the Inference API work. You'll maintain plugin framework and REST API, collaborating with inference and Kibana teams.

You should have 5+ years of production Java experience, strong API design skills, and hands-on work with concurrency and low-level Java. This role offers flexible locations within a distributed company and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production Java experience.
• Experience crafting ergonomic APIs and reasoning through tradeoffs.
• Experience with low-level Java such as concurrency and classloaders.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and teams and manage multiple projects.
• On-call rotation experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain integrations with internal systems and external inference providers.
• Contribute to the inference plugin architecture: task settings, chunking, rate limiting.
• Review open source contributions and ensure code standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation for inference incidents.
• Write unit tests and integration tests.
