Job summary

ITDS Portugal is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to join the client’s Risk Department’s P&L Team in Porto. You will design robust backend architectures using Spring Boot, Kafka, OpenShift and SingleStoreDB to modernize Profit & Loss systems in a demanding financial environment.

The role is Porto-based with a hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week). You’ll work in an Agile setting, apply TDD/BDD, and collaborate across the SDLC to deliver scalable backend solutions.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of professional experience as a Java Backend Developer in enterprise systems.
• Deep proficiency in Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Sybase, or SingleStoreDB.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and TDD/BDD methodologies.
• Knowledge of Kafka, OpenShift, distributed data systems (Hadoop, HDFS, Hive), microservices, containers, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Fluent command of English (minimum B2 level).

Responsibilities

• Redesign and enhance core backend data loading and processing systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Participate in migrating legacy infrastructure to modern distributed platforms such as Kafka, OpenShift, and SingleStore DB.

As a Senior Java Backend Developer, you will be working for our client within the Risk Department’s P&L Team in Porto. You will contribute to the core modernization of Profit & Loss systems avital financial KPI bydesigning robust backend architectures using modern technologies such as Spring Boot, Kafka, OpenShift, and SingleStoreDB.
