Job summary

IRIUM is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to join a challenging international technology project based in Lisbon. You will design, develop and maintain scalable Java microservices and REST/GraphQL APIs while collaborating with product and development teams.

The role requires 8+ years of Java backend experience, hands-on leadership, and strong knowledge of IAM, AWS SQS, SQL and DevOps practices. Hybrid work in Lisbon with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote; gross monthly salary €2,800–€3,100.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional Java backend experience.
• Design and implement scalable Java microservices.
• Technical leadership and architecture decisions.
• RESTful and GraphQL APIs with OpenAPI docs.
• IAM knowledge: Keycloak, Okta, OIDC and RBAC.
• Event-driven architectures with AWS SQS and Solace.
• Strong SQL knowledge and relational DBs.
• Identify bottlenecks, scalability, and security issues.
• Code quality gates, reviews, SonarQube and Snyk.
• Agile and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of React and frontend integration.
• Mentor juniors; strong communication and stakeholder mgmt.
• Portuguese and English at C1; resident in Portugal.
