Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to drive the Agentic AI Platform, building autonomous, tool-using AI agents that plan, reason, and execute complex business workflows end-to-end.

The role requires strong ML fundamentals and hands-on experience with LLM-based application development, agent orchestration, and Microsoft Azure cloud services. You will architect production-grade agentic solutions, mentor junior team members, and set technical direction for GenAI initiatives

Qualifications

• Strong background in data science/ML with production-ready LLM/GenAI applications.
• Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
• Deep knowledge of prompt engineering and design patterns for AI systems.
• Expert Python programming including data libraries and API development.
• Experience with vector databases and embeddings (Azure AI Search, Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, FAISS, pgvector).
• Strong SQL skills and working with large-scale data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionize multi-agent systems and orchestration.
• Develop end-to-end RAG pipelines and document ingestion workflows.
• Integrate agents with enterprise systems via tool/function calling and MCP-like patterns.
• Build LLM evaluation and governance for agentic workflows; monitor metrics and drift.
• Mentor junior data scientists and lead code/design reviews.
• Own LLMOps/MLOps aspects: experiment tracking, CI/CD, observability, retraining strategies.
