Descrição da oferta de emprego

UMO is a stealth-mode FinTech venture aiming to evolve the way people experience money by building a unified, AI-powered, yet deeply human modern money platform across fiat, crypto, and investments - subject to regulatory approvals. The platform is being designed to break down traditional barriers to money across access, assets, and experience, enabling simpler, more adaptive ways for people to interact with financial services.

We are currently developing our MVP and navigating licensing requirements, with a multidisciplinary team of 100+ people representing 20+ nationalities. With our headquarters in the UAE and offices in Portugal and Ukraine, we are united behind a shared ambition and a relentless focus on serving our customers.

About this role

As a part of our team, you'll help us shape a platform that works for One — a business owner, an artist, a freelancer. In this role, you will lead fullstack engineering as the hands‑on Team Lead for our back‑office platform — the operational and compliance console that powers how our teams run a regulated money platform day to day. You'll take accountability for the tools our internal teams and compliance function rely on, diving deep into the broader business context to understand the “why” behind every screen and permission. We provide the room for you to exercise true technical autonomy and people leadership, treating your craftsmanship with respect and eliminating micromanagement so you can mentor your squad and build clear, resilient internal tooling end‑to‑end.

You’ll take ownership of:
  • Squad Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, guide, and grow a high‑performing squad of fullstack developers, actively sharing product context, running thoughtful code reviews, and making engineering mentorship an expected, daily practice.
  • Own outcomes end‑to‑end, including dependencies on other teams — success is features live in production, not tasks closed.
  • Run and grow the team.
  • Act as the reference point — the “lighthouse” — in your specialty for other teams.
  • Stay hands‑on: you ship code every week.
  • Back‑Office & Admin Platform Engineering: Design, build, and deliver the internal tools, admin platforms, and ops consoles our teams use to run the business — with roles & permissions (RBAC), maker‑checker approval flows, and full audit trails built in from the start.
  • Integration Breadth & BFF Ownership: This team consumes APIs from every other squad in the company. You own the BFF (backend‑for‑frontend) layer and the integration breadth that comes with it — not one product slice.
  • State Management & Caching: Control data synchronization patterns on the front end, optimizing how state layers communicate with relational databases like PostgreSQL and fast memory stores like Redis.
  • Component System Engineering: Maintain and scale our structural component libraries, treating code cleanliness as a non‑negotiable benchmark across the entire application stack.
  • Containerized Infrastructure Flow: Co‑own system commitments and application delivery patterns, ensuring smooth code transport using Docker, Kubernetes, and Flux pipelines.
About you:
  • Internal Tooling & Admin Platform Experience: You’ve built internal tools, admin platforms, or ops consoles before, and know your way around roles & permissions (RBAC), maker‑checker flows, and audit trails — this is an operational/compliance console, not a consumer app.
  • Integration Depth: You’re comfortable being the integration point for many upstream services and designing a BFF layer that stays coherent as it grows.
  • AI‑Augmented Development: You use AI development tools like Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot as a core part of your daily architecture design, code delivery, and sprint planning — expected practice on an AI‑native team.
  • Autonomous Milestone Execution: You manage delivery expectations comfortably, choosing to resolve problems completely end‑to‑end rather than waiting for instructions.
  • Transparent Collaboration: You are comfortable working out in the open where your technical output and team decisions are visible, prioritizing mutual team respect, clear communication, and an absolute zero‑tolerance policy for rudeness.
  • Linguistic Fluency: You speak and write English at a professional level to confidently communicate technical architectures across our global product divisions.
Can get you a few bonus points:
  • Startup Agility: You have spent time working in lean startup environments and know how to keep your team’s designs flexible as product targets shift or evolve.
  • Polyglot Engineering Exposure: You bring direct commercial exposure to Go (Golang) or a genuine interest in working across backend data tracks when needed.
  • Infrastructure Orchestration: You are familiar with infrastructure‑as‑code concepts and have basic exposure to Terraform or Helm charts.
  • Backend‑Infra Awareness: Nice to have — familiarity with event streaming (Kafka or similar) and analytics stores like Clickhouse, since you’ll integrate with squads that use them.
  • Regulated/Fintech Tooling Exposure: You’ve built internal or admin tooling inside a regulated fintech, banking, or compliance environment before.
The UMO Standard:
  • Dynamic Work Environment: Vibrant offices and strong local teams across Lisbon, Dubai, Kyiv, and Lviv — with openness to remote for the right fit.
  • Rest & Recovery: 24 days of annual leave, dedicated paid sick leave, and observance of Public Holidays to keep you at your best.
  • Recharge Week: After your first year with us, enjoy two consecutive 4‑day work weeks annually — a built‑in reset to help you sustain peak performance for the long run.
  • Full Setup: Top‑of‑the‑line hardware and a home office stipend so you can do your best work anywhere.
  • Growth Ecosystem: A dedicated learning budget and a clear, accelerated path toward executive‑level leadership within the UMO ecosystem.
  • Impact & Ownership: Your work directly shapes the product and company direction — not just executes it.
