Join our team as a Senior DevOps / ELK Engineer (Hybrid - Lisbon)!
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, maintain, support, and extend the Elastic Stack, including Beats, Elastic Agents, Logstash, Elasticsearch, and Kibana.
- Drive observability practices and design monitoring solutions for applications running on:
- Mainframe platforms
- Container platforms
- Optimize platform performance, indexing efficiency, log retention, data lifecycle management, and secure access controls.
- Monitor vendor updates, new feature releases, and market trends to continuously improve the observability platform.
- Collaborate with development teams, architects, and operations teams to integrate observability into applications and CI/CD processes.
- Establish best practices and governance for application monitoring, coding standards, and technical guidelines.
- Coach and mentor team members, promoting the adoption of new observability solutions across the organization.
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements, estimate effort, define value-driven roadmaps, and report progress to Product Owners and management.
- Lead production troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and the resolution of critical incidents, including P1/P2 incidents.
- Support incident management and production release execution.
- Contribute to continuous delivery governance and ensure adherence to operational and delivery standards.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
- 5–10 years of hands-on IT experience, particularly in observability and production support.
- Proven experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience with incident management, release management, and production support.
- Strong skills in cross-team coordination, stakeholder communication, and effort estimation.
- Solid knowledge of Linux and Windows fundamentals, including: Processes and file systems, Shell environments, Key operating system metrics
- Mainframe knowledge is considered a plus.
- Strong hands-on experience with the Elastic Stack: Beats, Elastic Agents, Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana, OpenTelemetry standards
- Strong understanding of observability concepts: Logs, metrics, and traces, Golden signals, Log analysis, Dashboard creation, Alert configuration
- Experience with CI/CD and automation tools, such as: Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, UrbanCode Deploy (UCD), Ansible, Automated testing frameworks
- Knowledge of container and cloud technologies: Docker, Kubernetes
- Understanding of REST APIs and system integration.
- Basic knowledge of security controls, including: Authentication, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Access management, Audit and compliance requirements
- Elasticsearch certification and Microsoft Azure knowledge are strong advantages.
- Familiarity with productivity and IT service management tools: Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Microsoft Office
- Professional English at C1 level, both written and spoken — mandatory.
- French and/or Dutch is considered a plus.
- Strong collaboration, communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset, strong ownership, and structured problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with observability technologies.
- Experience working in regulated environments, particularly Financial Services, is a strong plus.
- Willingness and availability to provide on-call support and perform scheduled overtime when required.
- Must hold a valid work permit or EU/Schengen nationality allowing legal employment in Portugal.
- Must be based in Lisbon, Portugal, and be available for a hybrid working model, aligned with CET working hours.
