Job summary

Axians in Portugal is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to design, maintain and optimize database and BI environments. You will ensure data integrity, performance and availability while collaborating with development, operations and support teams on critical business systems.

Strong expertise in SQL Server, Microsoft BI stack (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS), ETL, backup and recovery, and Power BI is required. Fluency in English and Portuguese is essential; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in Database Administration, Infrastructure Engineering, BI, or similar roles.
• Strong Microsoft BI stack experience: SSIS, SSRS, SSAS; preferably with Tabular Models.
• Proven ETL development, optimization, and monitoring experience.
• Advanced SQL Server knowledge: development, procedures, functions; tuning, partitioning, indexing.
• Experience with Power BI and Master Data Services.
• Familiarity with ITIL, DevOps, CI/CD practices; strong problem solving.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize database solutions supporting business needs.
• Monitor and support critical business processes and applications.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, procedures, functions, and triggers for reporting.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve performance and processes.
• Administer and maintain database environments for availability and integrity.
• Implement and manage backup and recovery in line with business strategy.
• Ensure operational readiness and standards compliance; provide technical support.
• Troubleshoot incidents impacting database performance or access.
• Participate in post‑mortems for major incidents.
• Monitor environments with Dynatrace, ELK, Zabbix or similar tools.
• Suggest and deploy automation to reduce costs and manual work.
