Tracer is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer specializing in Data Warehousing and ETL ownership to join our growing team in our Madeira, Portugal office. In this senior role, you will participate in the design, development, and deployment of cutting‑edge data architecture that powers our analytics and business intelligence. This position requires deep expertise in modern cloud data warehousing, extensive experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, robust programming skills, and the ability to build scalable data solutions that directly enhance Tracer's brand protection platform.

• Data Warehouse Ownership: Architect, construct, and maintain our highly scalable cloud data warehouse utilizing Snowflake.
• End-to-End ETL/ELT Pipelines: Design, build, and orchestrate robust data pipelines leveraging dbt, Python, and AWS services for seamless data ingestion and transformation.
• Data Quality & Architecture: Develop and maintain full‑lifecycle data pipelines, ensuring strict data integrity, sophisticated data preprocessing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Optimization: Optimize data models, query performance, and pipeline throughput for scale, latency, and cost‑efficiency in cloud environments.
• Mentorship: Act as a technical leader on the team, contributing to system architecture design and mentoring junior engineers and data specialists.

Work Conditions

This is a full‑time, on‑site role in our Madeira, Portugal office. The work schedule is generally Monday‑Friday from 9am to 6pm. Although this is an on‑site position, there is flexibility for a hybrid schedule of up to two days remote work per week. Applicants should be currently located in Madeira or relocating to Madeira in the next 3 months. Tracer will not provide relocation assistance for this role.

Requirements

We are seeking a seasoned, hands‑on data professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and possesses a deep understanding of modern data architecture. In this role, you will take full ownership of our data warehousing environment, driving the strategy, design, and execution of our data infrastructure.

Must Haves

• Problem‑solving mindset and ability to communicate complex findings in a clear, concise manner.
• Experience in working with large‑scale datasets and cloud‑based data processing tools.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field/related experience.
• Experience: 5+ years of applied industry experience in Data Engineering, with a strong, proven track record of deploying data solutions to production.
• Deep understanding of modern cloud data warehousing (specifically Snowflake) and data modeling methodologies.
• Hands‑on, advanced experience with data transformation and pipeline orchestration tools like dbt and Airflow.
• Advanced experience with SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for data deployment and processing.

Nice to Haves

• Understanding of brand protection, cybersecurity, or intellectual property concepts is a plus.
• Practical experience with MLOps and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with enterprise ML platforms (e.g., Dataiku, Databricks, SageMaker).
• Familiarity working alongside BI teams using visualization tools like Qlik.
