Job summary

Revolut in Portugal is seeking a Senior Compute Engineer to design and build core systems that run containerised workloads on bare metal and hybrid environments. You will create tools to abstract hardware complexity and scale infrastructure.

You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, performance, and seamless integration with public cloud, while documenting processes and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years managing physical hardware.
• Kubernetes on bare metal and Ceph/MinIO experience.
• Infrastructure-as-Code automation experience.
• Data centre operations knowledge (power, cooling, racks).
• Familiarity with Dell/HP/Supermicro hardware.
• Strong troubleshooting for hardware failures and bottlenecks.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python.
• Academic STEM background.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain compute layer with Kubernetes on bare metal.
• Develop tooling to manage hybrid cloud environments at scale.
• Ensure infrastructure reliability and auto-healing for hardware.
• Manage hardware lifecycle from procurement to upgrades.
• Collaborate with network, security, DevOps for cloud integration.
• Document infrastructure processes and best practices.
