Job summary

HAEDES seeks a senior coastal modeller to strengthen our team in Portugal or Belgium. You will connect scientific depth with practical engineering judgement, combining numerical modelling with field evidence to investigate coastal systems and shape resilient solutions.

You would lead modelling work, calibrate and validate, assess shoreline evolution and climate-change vulnerability, and translate results into clear recommendations for clients across coastlines, estuaries, ports and nearshore

Qualifications

• PhD in geology, oceanography, or coastal engineering with a relevant MSc.
• At least 10 years' experience in coastal dynamics and modelling.
• Strong knowledge of wave, sediment transport and shoreline response.
• Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
• Hands-on experience with SWAN, Delft3D and XBeach.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and interpret coastal models for morphodynamics.
• Assess erosion, flooding and climate-change vulnerability under scenarios.
• Lead technical work packages and mentor junior colleagues.
• Translate modelling results into client-friendly reports and visuals.
