What You’ll Build

In this role, you will build two new cloud‑managed services to provide PostgreSQL and Redis instances to SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) users. The services aim to help SAP internal and external clients to have a seamless experience. Given the connection to SAP Core Infrastructure, this project is a major priority for SAP and BTP.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining two complex BTP Cloud Managed Services that are deployed in a cloud environment.
• Learning new technologies and helping the team adopt state‑of‑the‑art technologies and innovate.
• Adhering to coding best practices and guidelines for clean code.
• Driving and participating in design discussions on the best way forward to build the services.
• Exploring DevOps, if desired, using Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• Collaborating with the team to work on and improve agile practices.
• Mentor junior team members and be a multiplier of knowledge and expertise.

Qualifications

• Love for software development, platform engineering and learning.
• Cloud development principles (the 12‑factors).
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration such as Kubernetes (focus on Kubernetes Operator pattern), Docker or Gardener.
• Hands‑on experience with backend development in TypeScript/Node.js or Golang.
• IaaS expertise with Cloud Foundry or OpenStack (bonus if experience with at least one cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with testing and general quality assurance practices, including unit, integration, end‑to‑end and acceptance tests (familiarity with Cucumber/Gherkin is a plus).
• Deep knowledge of Git.
• Cloud DevOps knowledge in GitHub Actions (additional experience with Jenkins, Concourse or Terraform is a nice to have).
• A good understanding of observability principles and tooling, including logging, metrics, and tracing (with focus on tools such as OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana or OpenSearch).
• A good understanding of PostgreSQL and Redis services and their use cases.
• Confidence working within Unix/Linux shell environments (good bash knowledge is beneficial).
• Fluent English speaking and writing skills are mandatory.
