Air Apps is a Lisbon-based AI startup building the world’s first AI-powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner. We seek a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain server-side components that power our scalable applications.

You will collaborate with product managers, frontend developers, and cross-functional teams, applying Clean Code and Clean Architecture to deliver robust services while helping the company grow globally.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong experience with Supabase or PostgreSQL-based backends.
• Hands-on cloud experience (GCP/AWS/Azure) with serverless deployments.
• Knowledge of Clean Code and Clean Architecture.
• Experience with API design (REST) and cloud-native apps.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, testing, and Git workflows.
• Strong security, data protection, and compliance mindset.
• Effective communicator and proactive team contributor.

Responsibilities

• Design and build RESTful or GraphQL APIs, microservices, and business logic using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Model data and manage queries with Supabase and PostgreSQL with real-time features.
• Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including Cloud Run/Functions and Pub/Sub.
• Write clean, testable code and contribute to reviews and QA practices.
• Implement secure-by-default authentication and authorization following Clean Code/Architecture.
• Set up logging, monitoring, and incident response for backend services.
• Collaborate on architecture, mentor teammates, and document decisions.
