Job summary

Lumora Solutions is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Product Engineering team in Porto, Portugal. You will build data integrations and ELT pipelines, bringing data from external sources into our lakehouse and exposing it via APIs.

You will contribute to system design, architecture, and the implementation of new integrations. You will work across databases, data pipelines, and backend systems to create reliable, scalable data infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend or data engineering with production systems ownership.
• Strong Python experience, 3+ years, with data pipelines or backend services.
• Experience building ELT/ETL pipelines, APIs, and external data integrations.
• Database design and data modelling for relational DBs and data lakes.
• Familiarity with Rust, Go, or C++ for performance-critical components.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ELT pipelines that bring data from external sources into the lakehouse.
• Build APIs and integrations to expose data within the product.
• Design and implement data transformations and workflows using Airflow and Iceberg.

Our client is a fast-growing SaaS company looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Product Engineering team. You will work closely with the founding team, who have previously built and scaled products for some of the world leading prestigious companies.

The role is focused on building data integrations and ELT pipelines, bringing data from external sources into the company's lakehouse and making it available through APIs. You will also contribute to system design, architecture, and the implementation of new integrations.

What you'll do:

• Build and maintain ELT pipelines that bring data from external sources, including government registrations, into the company's lakehouse.
• Build APIs and integrations that make data accessible and useful within the product.
• Design and implement data transformations and workflows using technologies such as Airflow and Iceberg.
• Contribute to system design and architecture, taking solutions from initial design through to implementation.
• Work across databases, data pipelines, and backend systems to build reliable and scalable data infrastructure.

Key Skills:

• 5+ years of backend or data engineering experience, with strong ownership of production systems.
• Strong Python experience, ideally 3+ years, with experience building data pipelines or backend services.
• Experience building ELT/ETL pipelines, APIs, and integrations with external data sources.
• Strong database and data modelling skills, with experience working with relational databases and data lakes/lakehouses.
• Experience with languages such as Rust, Go, or C++ for performance-critical components.
• Comfortable working in GCP, AWS, or Azure and shipping reliably with CI/CD, with a good understanding of system design and distributed system
