Job summary

A Associação IST-ID, através do CAMGSD, abre uma bolsa de investigação para 12 meses, com início previsto em novembro de 2026, financiada por fundos nacionais através da FCT/MCTES. O estágio envolve trabalho de investigação em matemática, física matemática e teoria das cordas, com ênfase em resurgence aplicado a modelos de matrizes hermitianas.

A seleção baseia-se em avaliação de currículo (70%) e carta de motivação (30%).

Qualifications

• Bacharelado e/ou Mestrado em Matemática ou área relacionada.
• Este estágio requer estar inscrito num programa de doutoramento (no início do contrato).

Responsibilities

• Desenvolvimento de atividades de investigação científica no CAMGSD (UID/04459/2025) dentro do enquadramento do projeto CAMGSD.
• Contribuir para áreas de física matemática e teoria das cordas, com ênfase em resurgence aplicado a matrizes aleatórias e funções de correlação multi-resolventes e multi-determinantes em modelos de matrizes hermitianas.

Applications are open for 1 Research Studentship, within the Centre for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Dynamical Systems (CAMGSD), UID/04459/2025, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC

Workplan: development of specific activities of scientific research within the pluriannual funding of the project CAMGSD (UID/04459/2025) andin the areas of mathematical physics and string theory, with emphasis in resurgence as applied to random matrix theory, in particular the computation of multi-resolvent and multi-determinant correlation functions in hermitian matrix models and their applications to Wilson loops

Duration: The research fellowship will have the expected duration of 12 months, and it is expected to begin in November 2026. Eventually renewable

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: Curriculum evaluation including previous research experience, motivation letter, with the respective weight of 70% and 30%.

Composition of the selection Jury: the committee will be composed of the following members of CAMGSD, all professors at IST: Pedro Resende, Sílvia Anjos and Simão Correia.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal: A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 10 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 15 working days, both counted from the respective notification

Workplace:The work will be carried out at the Center for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Dynamical Systems of Instituto Superior Técnico, under the scientific supervision of one of its integrated members.
