O Instituto de Telecomunicações, no âmbito do projeto OWIN6G, abriu uma Bolsa de Investigação com duração de 8 meses (com possibilidade de renovação) para desenvolver redes de sensores sem fio com comunicação ótica e semântica, sob a coordenação do Prof. Luís Filipe Mesquita Nero Moreira Alves, na Universidade de Aveiro.

O vencimento mensal é de 1570€, pago por transferência bancária, com início previsto para novembro de 2026 ou tão breve quanto possível.

• Mestrado em engenharia elétrica ou equivalente, com foco em redes/telecomunicações.
• Candidatos devem demonstrar aptidão para atividades de I&D em contexto académico.
• Parcerias com unidades de I&D e projetos europeus podem ser valorizadas.

Job description

Summary

There is an open call for one (1) Research Scholarship ("Bolsa de Investigação") at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project OWIN6G. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Networks programme under Grant Agreement No. 101119624, Optical and wireless sensors networks for 6G scenarios (OWIN6G).

Work Objectives

To develop an intelligent wireless sensor network merging optical camera communications transceivers and semantic communications. In particular address the following objectives: 1) Optical Camera Communications based Neural Networks Conceptual Design 2) Optical Camera Communications Transceivers for Wireless Sensor Networks 3) Optical Camera Communications Neural Network Architectures for Wireless Sensor Networks.

Place of Work

The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. Luis Filipe Mesquita Nero Moreira Alves.

Duration

8 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 4 years. Start date: November 2026 or soon thereafter.

Monthly Salary

Monthly salary: 1570€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Admission Requirements

Research Grants (BI):

• Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by students enrolled in a doctoral program, aiming to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the respective academic degree, whether or not integrated into R&D projects.
• Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by master's degree holders who are enrolled in non-degree courses that are part of the educational programme of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
• Candidate holding a master's degree in electrical engineering, with cumulative specialization on following sub-areas: electronics, communications and photonics.

• Proof of enrollment in a higher education course or declaration of intention to enroll in a study cycle leading to an academic degree or in a course that does not confer an academic degree.
