Research Fellowship for a Master’s degree within the scope of the project “LIFE.LUDWIGIA: Integrated Action Framework for Prevention of Introduction, Early Detection, Containment and Control of Invasive Ludwigia sp.”, with operation code LIFE25-NAT-PT-LIFE LUDWIGIA (101294011), at the Polytechnic University of Coimbra, funded by the European Union through the LIFE Programme, under the following conditions:
The fellowship is intended for the implementation, development and/or collaboration in the following project activities (work packages – WPs):
WP2 – Preparatory work, including: a) updating cartographic information on the distribution of Ludwigia grandiflora and Ludwigia peploides within the CIMRC territory; b) preparation of operational control plans;
WP4 – Monitoring and assessment of the impact of control actions targeting Ludwigia grandiflora and Ludwigia peploides and of restoration actions;
WP5 – Engagement of different audiences in project activities, namely through citizen science;
WP7 – Participation in science dissemination and communication activities within the scope of the project;
Participation in other WPs in collaboration with Project partners;
General scientific field: Biological and/or Environmental Sciences;
Specific scientific field: Biological Invasion
- Higher education qualification in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Natural and/or Forestry Resources, Nature Conservation, Science Communication or related fields;
- Students enrolled in a PhD programme or in a non-degree programme (proof of enrolment must be provided by the time the fellowship is contracted).
Specific Requirements

- Preferably with experience in:
a) Work with invasive plant species (at a technical, scientific and/or public-sector stakeholder interaction level);
b) Science communication and/or citizen science activities, preferably involving invasive species;
c) Data analysis and writing of scientific and/or outreach articles in English.
Monthly maintenance allowance: EUR 1,359.64, in accordance with the table of values for Research Fellowships in Portugal awarded by FCT, I.P. , with payment made monthly by bank transfer.
This amount is supplemented by voluntary social insurance corresponding to the first contribution bracket, should the candidate opt to enrol, as well as personal accident insurance.
