iBET Portugal is offering a Research Fellowship (MSc) in the Laboratory Merck Healthcare Satellite Lab – THEGLUECATCHER_2026. The 12-month fellowship, starting 1 September 2026, aims to advance the project “The GlueCatcher” with an emphasis on biochemical and biophysical protein characterisation and SPR methodologies.

Qualificações

• Master's degree in Health Biochemistry, Biological Engineering, Clinical Biochemistry, or related field.
• Experience with handling and cultivation of eukaryotic cells.
• Biochemical and biophysical characterisation of proteins.
• Enzymatic assays.
• Strong motivation for research and a good work ethic.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Good command of English.
• Expression screening and production of recombinant proteins (therapeutic targets) in eukaryotic cells.
• Development of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) methodologies aimed at immobilisation of various high-value pharmaceutical target proteins without prior purification.
• Investigation of interactions between immobilised target proteins and prodrugs or other proteins of interest using SPR.
• Development of orthogonal biochemical assays to characterise interactions between proteins and prodrugs or other proteins of interest.

Responsabilidades

• This work forms part of a research programme developed in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry and includes experience within an industrial working environment, involving regular communication activities and the presentation of research results.
