Offer Description

A call is open for the award of 1 (one) research fellowship (BI), hereinafter abbreviated as BI or Research Grant, under the Research Grant Holder Statute, under the following conditions:

  • FUNDING: The research grant will be funded by the budget of Maiêutica – Cooperativa de Ensino Superior, C.R.L., the founding entity of the University of Maia (UMAIA) and integrated into the Maia Campus of the University of Porto's Psychology Center (CPUP).
  • SCIENTIFIC AREA: Psychology
  • WORK PLAN The activities to be carried out by the scholarship holder include:
  1. Systematic review of the literature on socio-emotional learning and teaching practices focused on promoting socio-emotional skills.
  2. Development of psychopedagogical resources to foster socio-emotional skills.
  3. Development and implementation of teacher training actions in the field of socio-emotional learning and the use of digital tools.
  4. Collection and analysis of data within the scope of usability studies and effectiveness of digital tools for teacher training in the domain of socio-emotional competencies.
  5. Participation in team meetings and in the writing of reports.
  6. Writing scientific articles.
  7. Participation in knowledge transfer actions/scientific dissemination of results.

5. DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP: The scholarship will be awarded on an exclusive basis and will have a duration of 12 months, with a start date expected in February 2025.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Eligible candidates: national citizens or citizens of EU member states; citizens of third countries; stateless persons; political refugees.
  • Master's degree in School Psychology and Education, or related fields (foreign qualifications must comply with Decree-Law No. 66/2018 and related formalities by time of hiring).
  • Student enrolled in a non-degree course integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, or student developing the work plan within the scope of the Doctorate in Psychology at the University of Maia.

Specific Requirements

  • Preference for proficiency in English (certificates/diplomas or written works in English or ability to converse in English).
  • Previous experience in research activities related to the work program (e.g., systematic literature review; quantitative and/or qualitative methods; use of technologies in teacher training; socio-emotional learning).
  • Previous experience in projects within Educational Psychology.
  • Interest and suitability for scientific research work at CPUP.

2. Payment is monthly by bank transfer.

3. All scholarship holders benefit from personal accident insurance related to research activities, covered by Maiêutica.

4. Scholarship holders not covered by a social protection scheme can join the voluntary social insurance scheme with Maiêutica covering the costs as per Article 10 of the EBI.

Eligibility criteria
  • As above: eligibility of citizens (EU, third countries, stateless, political refugees).
  • Requirements for candidates: Master’s degree in School Psychology and Education (or related), and status as a student enrolled in a relevant program or Doctorate work at the University of Maia (proof provided at hiring).

Selection process

  1. The evaluation includes Curriculum Evaluation (70%) and an Interview (30%).
  2. Curriculum Evaluation (70%) considers: English proficiency, relevance of Master’s thesis, prior research experience, experience in teacher training for socio-emotional learning and digital tools, and motivation letter content.
  3. Interview (30%) evaluates candidate motivation and overall suitability for the work plan.
  4. Scores are 0–20; ties resolved by the President.
  5. Final list is posted on the University of Maia website within 10 business days after the final submission date; candidates are notified by email.

7. The jury reserves the right not to select any candidate if none meet the profile.

  1. The call is open from 12 December to 29 December 2024.

  3. Documents to attach: degree certificates, curriculum vitae, a letter to the jury describing background and fit, a signed declaration of exclusive activity, and other relevant documents.

SCHOLARSHIP GRANTING REQUIREMENTS

  1. Documents required for contractualization: civil/tax/social security IDs, degree certificates, enrollment in non-degree program or proof of Doctorate enrollment, supervisor declaration, and work plan.
  2. The grant is contingent on full compliance with requirements and outcome of the evaluation; non-submission may lead to expiration of the grant.

FORM OF PUBLICATION/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS

  1. Results published as an ordered list on the UMAIA website within 10 business days after final submission; candidates notified by email for prior hearing of interested parties (10 days).
  2. Final decision notified within 10 business days after pronunciations; appeals: 15 days to file a complaint, 30 days to appeal to the highest authority.
