• University degree in Biological Engineering or related field.
• Experience drafting, planning and monitoring activities within projects.

Work Location: Ovar, Portugal

OVARGADO, S.A., a portuguese company dedicated to the development, production and commercialisation of animal nutrition solutions, is seeking to strengthen its Research, Development and Innovation Department through the recruitment of a RDI Technician.

The successful candidate will join the team of the OVG-PETADVANCE project, within the R&D component NutriFunctional4PETS, focused on the development of innovative and sustainable functional pet food formulations, incorporating natural ingredients and nutraceuticals.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct literature research and state-of-the-art reviews on topics relevant to the project;

Support the mapping, characterisation and technical-scientific validation of new ingredients with functional potential;

Participate in the planning, organisation and monitoring of R&D activities;

Support the definition of technical specifications, requirements and selection criteria for the ingredients under study;

Collaborate in laboratory work and monitor the trials planned within the project;

Analyse and interpret the data obtained, identifying deviations, limitations and opportunities for improvement;

Develop well-founded proposals for alternative solutions that contribute to the efficient achievement of the project's objectives;

Prepare records, technical reports and other supporting documentation for the implementation, monitoring and dissemination of results;

Liaise with OVARGADO's internal team and the scientific and technical entities involved;

Participate across the different project activities, from the initial research and formulation development stages through to the validation and dissemination of results.

Candidate Profile

University degree in Biological Engineering, Life and Health Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry or a related field;

Experience in drafting, planning and monitoring activities carried out within the scope of projects;

Laboratory work experience;

Experience in literature research and state-of-the-art reviews;

Strong critical analysis, data interpretation and problem-solving skills;

Strong organisational skills, attention to documentation and ability to meet deadlines;

Ability to work effectively in a team and liaise with different functional areas and external entities;

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Qualifications Valued

Postgraduate training or experience in areas related to animal nutrition and feeding, functional ingredients, nutraceuticals, microbiology, biotechnology or food technology;

Experience in research, development and innovation projects, in a business or academic context;

Knowledge of data analysis and processing;

Familiarity with scientific research tools and bibliographic reference management;

Ability to read and analyse technical and scientific literature in English;

Knowledge of quality management systems and good laboratory practices.
