Open Home Foundation seeks a Senior Python Software Engineer to join the Home Assistant team remotely in Europe. You will build AI foundations, APIs, and interfaces for language models to interact privately with the home, while supporting open-source collaboration.

You will review contributions, advance MCP-based tooling, on-device inference, and agent-based workflows, shaping a private, open, and sustainable smart home ecosystem.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of experience in Python back-end development.
• 3+ years with asyncio and threading.
• Built and shipped LLM-powered features in production Python.
• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar interfaces.
• Experience with local, on-device inference.
• Pragmatic view on AI, reliability, privacy and safety.
• Strong problem-solving and independent work ability.
• Experience in remote, asynchronous collaboration via written communication.
• Git and GitHub proficiency.
• Professional English fluency; European residency eligible.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement the AI foundation: APIs, LLM integrations, and tool interfaces.
• Create in-product agents grounded in users' home configurations.
• Connect Home Assistant to external AI systems using MCP with proper permissions.
• Grow the assistant with memory, documentation, and configuration aids.
• Make AI features easy to discover, set up, and disable.
• Build AI-powered workflows for community collaboration and project management.
• Conduct code reviews of pull requests and address technical issues.
• Collaborate with the community to investigate and address reported issues.
• Provide input on architectural proposals and codebase changes.
