Job summary

Connect Digital in Portugal is seeking a Senior IT Security Engineer to join one of our projects. You will contribute to security operations, incident response, and architecture, collaborating with cross-functional technical teams to strengthen threat detection and automate security controls.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with SIEM (Splunk preferred), vulnerability management, and security monitoring across complex IT environments, plus strong English communication and the ability

Qualifications

• Academic background in Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or IT, or equivalent experience.
• Solid experience in Cybersecurity, Security Engineering or Security Operations.
• Hands-on in incident investigation and Incident Response.
• Knowledge of SIEM technologies, IDS, security monitoring and log analysis.
• Experience with Detection Engineering and developing detection rules.
• Familiarity with Splunk or similar SIEM solutions.
• Understanding of Security Architecture and security controls.
• Experience with Vulnerability Management and remediation processes.
• Scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell or Bash.
• Strong English communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage and investigate complex cybersecurity incidents with effective response.
• Improve security monitoring and threat detection across environments.
• Develop and optimize SIEM detection rules to reduce false alerts.
• Work with SIEM, IDS, and security monitoring platforms to identify threats.
• Support design and implementation of security architectures and controls.
• Identify weaknesses and contribute to risk analysis and remediation.
• Develop scripts and automation to streamline security operations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and IT teams to integrate security practices.
• Provide recommendations on access management and infrastructure protection.
• Document security procedures and share knowledge with the team.
• Evaluate security solutions with stakeholders and partners.
