Job summary

HumanIT Digital Consulting is seeking a Senior IT Security Engineer to shape security capabilities and strengthen protection across complex IT environments, including threat detection, investigation and remediation.

The role blends hands-on security engineering with leadership: you will mentor engineers, influence security strategy, automate controls and drive secure architectures while collaborating with stakeholders across Europe.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience in IT security engineering or security operations, including leadership of complex investigations and high-impact incident response.
• Strong detection engineering experience across SIEM, IDS and multiple security telemetry sources.
• Experience developing, improving and tuning security detections to increase coverage and minimise false positives.
• Practical experience architecting, implementing and supporting security controls in complex IT environments.
• Experience with vulnerability management, security assessment and remediation of technical vulnerabilities.
• Ability to develop maintainable scripts, automation workflows and system integrations that improve security operations at scale.
• Sound technical judgement when assessing security risks involving access management, exceptions, architecture and technology choices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce security policies and guidance for senior stakeholders.
• Proven experience mentoring engineers and developing technical documentation or knowledge-sharing resources.
• Experience improving security awareness using metrics and stakeholder feedback.
• Experience managing security vendors and product evaluations.
• Ability to rapidly develop expertise in unfamiliar technologies and translate knowledge into security improvements.
• A proactive, analytical and collaborative approach to security engineering and continuous improvement.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead security monitoring, detection engineering, incident response and security systems engineering across enterprise environments.
• Investigate complex alerts, coordinate high-impact incidents and develop detection capabilities to improve threat coverage.
• Architect, implement and support security controls and identify vulnerabilities across IT estates.
• Design maintainable automation and system integrations to reduce repetitive work and deliver reliable security outcomes at scale.
• Advise on architecture, access management and security exceptions; contribute to policies and guidance.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge to grow security capabilities across the team.
